William WOOLVEN (1697-?)

and Susanna SYMONDS (1703-?)

 

William Woolven and Susanna Symonds married on 14 April 1724 in Bolney, Sussex.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

William Woolven may have been baptised on 23 May 1697 in Shermanbury, Sussex and have been the son of William Woolvin and Anne, or he may have been baptised on 10 June 1697 in Twineham, Sussex and have been the son of Henry Woolven and Mary Jupp.

Susanna Symonds may have been born on 24 April 1703 and baptised on 7 May 1703 in Ardingly, Sussex, the daughter of William Symmonds (1676-1751) and Elizabeth Maite (c1676-1759).  However, she did have a cousin Susanna Symonds who was baptised on 29 January 1691/2 in Ardingly, the daughter of Hugh Symonds and Susanna.  Given that William and Susanna's last known child was born in 1735, might 1692 Susanna have been the one who married William, rather than 1703?  Or was there yet another Susanna born about the same time?

 

William Woolven and Susanna Symonds had 5 known child:

  1. Mildreda Woolvin was baptised on 18 March 1724/5 in West Grinstead, Sussex.

  2. Richard Woolvin was baptised on 10 June 1727 in West Grinstead.

  3. Henry Woolvin was baptised on 1 May 1729 in West Grinstead.

  4. John Woolvin was baptised on 29 October 1731 in West Grinstead and buried there in January 1731/2.

  5. Sarah Woolvin was baptised on 3 September 1736 in West Grinstead.

 

Might William and Susanna also have been the parents of:

  1. William Woolven married Ann Steel on 3 June 1756 in West Grinstead.  (They have their own page.)
