Henry WOOLVEN (1655-1720)

and Mary JUPP (c1660-1731)

Henry Woollvin and Mary Juppe were my 7x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on  11 November 1686 in Shipley, Sussex.

Henry Woolven was born on 22 November and baptised on 30 November 1655 in Henfield, Sussex.  He was the son of Henry Woolven (1622-?) and Elizabeth.  He was buried on 11 May 1720 in Twineham, Sussex.  (A Henry Woolvin was buried on 27 May 1719 in Henfield.  Have I made a mistake in moving 1655 Henry to Twineham?)

Mary Juppís date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She was buried on 12 January 1730/1 in Twineham, Sussex.  Might she have been baptised on 10 July 1656 in Shipley, the daughter of James Jupp, or on 25 October 1663 in Itchingfield, Sussex, the daughter of John Jupp and Mary?

Henry Woolven and Mary Jupp had 4 known children:

  1. Mary Woolven, my 6x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 17 December 1687 in Twineham.  She married 5 101 James Matthews in 1709.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Henry Woolvin was baptised on 19 February 1689/90 in Twineham.  He was buried on 21 May 1762 in Twineham.

Henry married Mary Peirce by licence on 5 May 1724 in Twineham.

Mary was baptised on 21 May 1696 in Twineham and was the daughter of John Pierce and Elizabeth Morley.  She may have been buried on 18 April 1760 in Twineham.

Henry and Mary had 2 known children:

    1. Mary Woollven was baptised on 12 August 1724 in Twineham.

    2. Sarah Woollven was baptised on 24 April 1728 in Twineham.

  3. Thomas Woolven was baptised on 9 October 1694 in Twineham.  He was buried on 3 May 1752 in Twineham.

Thomas married Margaret sometime before or about 1721.

Margaret was buried on 8 November 1728 in Twineham.

Thomas and Margaret had 4 known children:

    1. Mary Woolven was baptised on 13 January 1721/2 in Twineham and buried there on 5 April 1722.

    2. Ann Woolvin was baptised on 12 July 1723 in Twineham.

    3. Henry Woollven was baptised on 14 December 1725 in Twineham.

    4. Margaret Woollven was baptised on 8 November 1728 in Twineham.

  4. William Woolven was baptised on 10 June 1697 in Twineham.  Did he marry Susan Symons on 14 April 1724 in Bolney?  She was probably born on 24 April and baptised on 7 May 1703 in Ardingly, the daughter of William Symonds and Elizabeth Maite.
