William WOOLGAR (1671-1745)

and Sarah HILL (1676-1750)

 

William Woolgar and Sarah Hill were my 7x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They married by licence on 23 September 1692 in West Grinstead, Sussex.  Their marriage licence was issued on 21 September 1692 by the Archdeaconry of Lewes, which recorded that Sarah was a spinster and they were both of Henfield.

William Woolgar was baptised on 28 April 1671 in Henfield, Sussex.  He was the son of 5 262 Samuel Woolgar (1643-1702) and 5 262 Grace Newnhame (c1645-1679).  He was buried on 17 July 1745 in Henfield.

Sarah Hill was baptised on 28 November 1676 in Henfield.  She was the daughter of 5 268 William Hill (1638-1691) and 5 268 Joan.  Sarah was buried on 4 April 1750 in Henfield.

William Woolgar and Sarah Hill had 7 known children:

  1. Sarah Woolgar was born on 15 June and baptised on 17 July 1697 in Henfield.  Sarah was mentioned in the will of her Grandfather Samuel Woolgar.

    Sarah married Thomas Turner on 13 December 1726 in Henfield.

  2. John Woolgar was baptised on 21 October 1698 in Henfield.  He was buried on 5 May 1746 in Henfield.  John was mentioned in the will of his Grandfather Samuel Woolgar.

    John married Jane Toath on 21 April 1734 in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex.

    Jane was born about 1718 and was buried on 1 December 1771 in Henfield. 

    John and Jane had 3 known children:

    1. John Woolgar was baptised on 24 September 1735 in Henfield.

    2. James Woolgar was baptised on 22 August 1736 in Henfield.

    3. Jane Woolgar was baptised on 26 October 1739 in Henfield.

  3. William Woolgar was born on 22 September and baptised on 24 October 1700 in Henfield.  He died between 1702 and 1708.  He was mentioned in the will of his Grandfather.

  4. Samuel Woolgar was baptised on 7 November 1702 in Henfield.

  5. Mary Woolgar was baptised on 26 January 1704/5 in Henfield.  She married John Ede in 1734.  (They have their own page.)

  6. William Woolgar was baptised on 23 March 1708/9 in Henfield.

  7. Stephen Woolgar, my 6x Great Grandfather, was born on 29 April and baptised on 28 May 1712 in Henfield.  He married Mary Elsey in  1738.  (They have their own page.)
