Stephen WOOLGAR (1778-1852)

and Margaret PACKHAM (c1780-?)

Stephen Woolgar and Margaret Packham married by licence on 4 March 1801 in Cuckfield, Sussex.  They were both then of Cuckfield.  (They were not my direct ancestors.  Stephen was the nephew of my 5x Great Grandfather, Samuel Woolgar.)

Stephen Woolgar was baptised on 5 April 1778 in West Grinstead, Sussex.  He was the son of William Woolgar (1745-1825) and Jane Nye (c1750-?).  He died aged 76 years in Shermanbury and was buried on 22 April 1852 in West Grinstead.

Margaret Packham's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

Stephen Woolgar and Margaret Packham had 8 known children:

  1. Stephen Woolgar was baptised on 1 August 1802 in West Grinstead.  Stephen married Mary.

  2. Sarah Woolgar was baptised on 22 July 1804 in West Grinstead.

  3. Edward Woolgar was baptised on 3 November 1805 in West Grinstead.

  4. Ann Woolgar was baptised on 10 April 1808 in West Grinstead.  She married William Vinall.  (They have their own page.)

  5. James Woolgar was baptised on 1 January 1811 in West Grinstead.

  6. Sarah Woolgar was baptised on 19 September 1813 in West Grinstead, at which time her father was a labourer.

  7. Mary Woolgar was baptised on 26 June 1818 in West Grinstead, at which time her father was a labourer.  She died as an infant and was buried on 28 October 1818 in West Grinstead.

  8. Elizabeth Woolgar was baptised on 19 December 1819 in West Grinstead, at which time her father was a labourer.
