William WILLARD (1790-1840)

and Mary COLEMAN (1793-?)


William Willard and Mary Coleman married on 14 November 1812 at St. Nicholas in Sandhurst, Kent.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

William Willard was born on 7 June 1790 and baptised on 11 July 1790 in Sandhurst, Kent.  He was the son of Sarah Willard  (1767-1805) and Paul Hyder (1761-?).  His father was from Hawkhurst, Kent.  William was buried on 8 April 1840 in Sandhurst.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Willard and Jane Tolhurst.

Mary Coleman was baptised on 2 June 1793 in Sandhurst, Kent.  She was the daughter of Sarah Coleman and Richard James.


William Willard and Mary Coleman had 12 known children:

  1. William Willard was born on 2 January 1813 and baptised on 4 April 1813 at St. Nicholas in Sandhurst.  He was buried on 2 August 1840 in Sandhurst.

  2. John Willard was baptised on 16 October 1814 at the parish church of St. George in Benenden, Kent.

    John married Anne Marshal on 11 January 1840 in Sandhurst.

    Ann was baptised on 19 October 1817 in Benenden and was the daughter of James Marshal and Anne.

    John and Ann had the following children:

    1. Caroline Willard

    2. William Willard

    3. Mary Willard

    4. James Willard

    5. Charles Willard

  3. Mary Willard was baptised on 21 or 26 January 1816 in Benenden (can someone please correct the date).

    Mary married Jesse Mallion in 1841.

    Jesse was born about 1804 in Rolvenden, Kent.

    Jesse and Mary had the following children:

    1. Sarah Mallion

    2. William Mallion

    3. Mary Mallion

    4. George Mallion

    5. James Mallion

  4. James Willard was baptised on 18 January 1818 in Benenden.

  5. Sarah Wellard was baptised on 17 October 1819 in Benenden.

    Sarah married Charles Honess in 1844.

  6. Elizabeth Willard was baptised on 22 February or June 1823 in Benenden (can someone please correct the month).

    Elizabeth married Sandhurst Wilmshurst in 1846.

    Sandhurst was born about 1822 in Goudhurst, Kent.

    Sandhurst and Elizabeth had the following children:

    1. Miriam Wilmshurst

    2. Philadelphia Wilmshurst

    3. Martha Ann Wilmshurst

    4. Richard Wilmshurst

    5. Sarah E. Wilmshurst

    6. Charles E. Wilmshurst

    7. Henry Wilmshurst

    8. Frank Wilmshurst

    9. Esther Wilmshurst

    10. Frederick Wilmshurst

  7. Thomas Wellard was baptised on 15 January 1825 in Benenden.  He married Catherine Hoad in 1847.  (They have their own page.)

  8. Richard Willard was baptised on 25 March 1827 in Benenden.

  9. Eliza Wellard was baptised on 9 August 1829 in Benenden.

    Eliza had 3 illegitimate children:

    1. Martha Ann Willard

    2. Charles E. Willard

    3. Sarah Willard

    Eliza married John Hogben.

    Eliza and John had the following child:

    1. Richard Hogben

    Eliza next married James Milton.

    James was born about 1811 in Sandhurst.

    James and Eliza had the following children:

    1. Emma Milton

    2. Eliza Jane Milton

  10. Philadephia Wellard was baptised on 17 April 1831 in Benenden.

  11. Stephen Charles Willard was baptised on 31 July 1834 in Benenden.  Samuel Charles Willard was buried on 6 May 1836 in Sandhurst.

  12. Martha Ann Willard was baptised on 31 July 1834 in Benenden.  She was buried in Sandhurst on 2 June 1836.
