Robert Willard and Mary Tribe had 6 known children:

1. Mary Willard was baptised on 3 March 1742/3 in Petworth.

2. Betty Willard was born 8 January 1746/7 baptised on 18 January 1746/7 in Petworth.  She may have been buried as Elizabeth Willard, infant, on 24 February 1747 in Petworth.

3. Catherine Willard was born on 12 April 1748 and baptised on 20 April 1748 in Petworth.  She may have been buried on 2 February 1823 in Petworth, but, the burial register noted that Catherine Burningham was 80 years old.

   Catherine married Richard Burningham by banns on 24 May 1770 in Petworth.  He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Petworth.  The witnesses to the marriage were Daniel Huburn and Edward Boxall.

   Richard died aged 67 years and was buried on 5 July 1808 in Petworth.  The burial register noted that he was a shoemaker.

   Richard and Catherine had 9 known children:

   1. Thomas Burningham was baptised on 20 October 1770 in Petworth.  He died aged 75 years and was buried on 14 January 1844 in Petworth..  He was a cordwainer.

      Thomas married Jane Blunden by banns on 31 January 1791 in Rottingdean, Sussex.  He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Rottingdean.

      Jane was baptised on 1 January 1768 in Pulborough, Sussex and was the daughter of William Blunden and Jane Knowles.  She died in 1828.

      Thomas and Jane had 8 known children:

      1. Jane Burningham was baptised on 29 April 1792 in Petworth and buried there on 7 April 1793.

      2. Sarah Burningham was baptised on 11 August 1793 in Petworth.  She married John Norris by banns on 24 August 1816 in Petworth.  He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Petworth.  The witnesses to the marriage were ? Lucas and Susanna Hoad.  Might John Norris have been born in 1789 in Steyning?

      3. Richard Burningham was born on 12 October and baptised on 22 November 1795 in Petworth.  He died in 1867.  Richard married Ann Christopher on 16 September 1816 in Arundel, Sussex.  He was then of Petworth and she of Arundel.  Ann was baptised on 14 November 1795 in Arundel and was the daughter of David Christopher (c1760-1855) and Ann Somersel.

      4. Elizabeth Burningham was born on 21 October 1798 and baptised on 6 January 1799 in Petworth.

      5. Thomas Burningham was born on 17 October 1801 and baptised on 29 March 1802 in Petworth.

      6. Charlotte Burningham was born on 14 September and baptised on 12 October 1804 in Petworth.  She married William Stoveld by licence on 10 December 1827 in Petworth.  He was then a bachelor and labourer of Kirdford and she a spinster of Petworth.  The witnesses to the marriage were Edward Butt and John Mann.

      7. Lucy Burningham was born on 6 January and baptised on 17 April 1807 in Petworth.  She married James Hunt by banns on 29 October 1825 in Petworth.  He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Petworth.  The witnesses to the marriage were Thomas Jolliffe and Thomas Kinggett.

      8. Anne Burningham was born on 13 December 1812 and baptised on 13 January 1813 in Petworth.

   2. Richard Burningham was baptised on 1 August 1772 in Petworth.  He may have died aged 74 years and have been buried on 5 September 1844 in Petworth.

      Richard married Mary Daymin by banns on 26 September 1796 in Petworth.  He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Petworth.  A witness to the marriage was William Collins.

      Mary was baptised on 26 March 1775 in Stopham and was the daughter of Thomas Daman and Hannah Napper.

      1. John Burningham was born on 19 December 1797 and baptised on 28 January 1798 in Petworth.

      2. Richard Burningham was born on 14 September and baptised on 29 September 1799 in Petworth.  He may have died aged 26 years and have been buried on 12 May 1826 in Petworth.

      3. Benjamin Burningham was born on 8 January and baptised on 14 February 1802 in Petworth.  He married Mary Lucas by banns on 9 November 1823 in Petworth.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Petworth.  The witnesses to the marriage were William Collins and Mary Hearsey.

      4. Mary Burningham was born on 22 August and baptised on 1 October 1809 in Petworth.

      5. Hannah Burningham was born on 12 August and baptised on 18 October 1812 in Petworth.

      6. Edmund Burningham was born on 7 January and baptised on 21 April 1816 in Petworth.

   3. William Burningham was baptised on 5 January 1776 in Petworth and buried as an infant on 30 January 1776 in Petworth.

   4. Susanna Burningham was baptised on 26 January 1777 in Petworth.

      Susanna married Philip Hoad by banns on 5 November 1797 in Petworth.  He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Petworth.  A witness to the marriage was Richard Burningham.

      Philip was baptised on 17 October 1777 in Midhurst, Sussex and was the son of Philip Hoad and Anne Mills.

      Philip and Susanna had 6 known children:

      1. Richard Hoad was born on 28 May 1798 and baptised the next day in Petworth.

      2. Philip Hoad was born on 29 December 1800 and baptised on 11 January 1801 in Petworth.  He died aged 83 years in 1884 (first quarter in the Petworth registration district).  He married Frances Hill on 25 January 1840 in Lurgashall.  He was then a bachelor and shoemaker of Petworth, whilst she was a spinster and minor.  The witnesses to the marriage were George Chalwen and Ann Hill.  When the 1881 census was recorded 80 year old Philip and 61 year old Fanny were living in Angel Street, Petworth.  She was baptised on 30 June 1819 in Lurgashall and was the daughter of Noah Hill and Hester.  Fanny died aged 74 years in 1894 (second quarter in the Petworth district).  Philip and Fanny were the parents of Kate Waghorn Hoad who was born in 1849 and married Frederick Lelliott in 1877.  Fred was the son of Henry Nicholas Lelliott (1819-?) and Mary Churcher (1815-?).

      3. Catherine Hoad was born on 9 March and baptised on 20 March 1803 in Petworth.  She married Robert Matthews Goucher by banns on 29 April 1823 in Petworth.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Petworth.  The witnesses to the marriage were Ann Hoad and Philip Hoad.

      4. Ann Hoad was born on 29 April and baptised on 1 May 1805 in Petworth.

      5. Elizabeth Hoade was born on 31 March and baptised on 10 April 1808 in Petworth.

      6. Mary Hoad was born on 8 June and baptised on 6 September 1811 in Petworth.  She married William Herrington by banns on 30 November 1831 in Petworth.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Petworth.  The witnesses were Elizabeth Hoad and Philip Hoad.

   5. William Burningham was baptised on 2 January 1778 in Petworth.  He married Ann Rowlance by banns on 13 December 1796 in Petworth.  He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Petworth.  A witness to the marriage was William Ward.

   6. Elizabeth Burningham was baptised on 20 April 1781 in Petworth.

      As Elizabeth Bourningham she married Peter Sayers by banns on 13 May 1804 in Petworth.  He was then a bachelor of the parish of St. Peter the Great in Chichester and she was a spinster of Petworth.  A witness to the marriage was Peter Sayers.

      Peter and Elizabeth had 6 known children:

      1. Mary Saires was born on 9 March and baptised on 14 March 1805 in Petworth.

      2. Henry Sayers was born on 20 July and baptised on 25 July 1809 in Petworth.

      3. Hannah Sayers was born on 17 December 1810 and baptised on 30 January 1811 in Petworth.

      4. Luke Sayers was born on 28 September and baptised on 28 October 1812 in Petworth.  He was buried there on 15 January 1813.

      5. Sarah Sayers was born on 12 May and baptised on 8 July 1814 in Petworth.

      6. Jane Sayers was baptised on 21 April 1819 in Petworth.

   7. John Burningham was baptised in March 1784 in Petworth.  He died aged 52 years and was buried on 23 January 1836 in Petworth.  John married Marian in about 1804.  Marina died aged 48 years and was buried on 3 June 1830 in Petworth.

   8. Henry Burningham was baptised on 26 December 1786 in Petworth.  He died on 20 March 1843.

      Henry married Mary Gosden by licence dated 4 October 1811, which stated that he was a bachelor aged 21 and upwards, and a shoemaker of Petworth, and Mary was a spinster of Midhurst aged 21 and upwards.  The sponsors for the licence were Henry himself and William Andrew Daimer a farmer of Easebourne.

      Mary was baptised on 1 February 1789 in Easebourne and was the daughter of Frances Gosden.  Her mother, as a spinster, married widower William Powell by banns on 13 October 1793 in Easebourne.

      Henry and Mary had 9 known children:

      1. Henry Burningham was born on 14 December 1811 and baptised on 12 February 1812 in Petworth.

      2. Richard Burningham was born on 16 January/February and baptised on 26 February 1814 and/or 24 December 1816 in Petworth.

      3. Mary Burningham was baptised on 24 December 1816 in Petworth.

      4. Ann Burningham was baptised on 14 March 1819 in Petworth.

      5. William Burningham was baptised on 10 February 1821 in Petworth.

      6. Jane Burningham was baptised on 11 April 1823 in Petworth.

      7. Elizabeth Burningham was baptised on 21 February 1825 in Petworth.

      8. Gawen Burningham (son) was baptised on 25 May 1827 in Petworth.

      9. James Burningham was baptised on 25 March 1830 in Petworth.

   9. Ann Burningham was baptised on 3 Jun 1789 in Petworth.

      Ann married William Lucas by banns on 2 July 1810 in Petworth.  He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Petworth.  The witnesses to the marriage were Henry Burningham and Sarah Lucas.

4. Anne Willard was baptised on 15 May 1751 in Petworth.  Ann wife of William Meachen was buried on 1 March 1792 in Petworth.

   Ann married William Machine by banns on 2 August 1767 in Petworth.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster.  The witnesses to their marriage were Barnabas Nevet and William Pullin.

   William Meachin may have died aged 81 years and have been buried on 1 October 1822 in Petworth.

   William and Ann had the following children:

   1. Robert Meachin was baptised on 18 June 1768 Petworth.

   2. Sarah Meachen was baptised on 22 December 1771 in Petworth.

   3. Anne Machin was baptised on 11 October 1777 in Petworth.

5. Sarah Willard was baptised on 11 January 1755 in Petworth.  She may have been buried in Petworth on 26 January 1826, but the burial register records that Sarah Nevitt was 76 years old.

   Sarah married James Nevet by banns on 24 October 1784 in Petworth.  The witnesses to their marriage were William Willard and Elizabeth Harwood.

   James Nevitt was baptised on 31 August 1760 in Petworth and was the son of Barnabas Nevit (c1728-1823) and Mary Meachen.  He died aged 78 years in Midhurst and was buried on 30 May 1837 in Petworth.

   James and Sarah had the following children:

   1. Clara Nevet was born on 19 July 1786 and baptised on 30 July 1786 in Petworth.

   2. Mary Nevet was baptised on 2 December 1788 in Petworth.

   3. Hannah Nevitt was baptised on 24 April 1791 in Petworth.  She died aged 4 years and was buried on 25 May 1795 in Petworth.

   4. Bartholomew Nevett was baptised on 25 March 1794 in Petworth.  He died aged 55 years and was buried on 27 February 1848 in Petworth.

6. William Willard was baptised on 5 March 1760 in Petworth.  He was buried on 3 July 1791 in Petworth.

   William married Elizabeth Harwood by banns on 5 December 1786 in Petworth.  The witnesses to their marriage were Thomas Price and Mary Osborn.

   Elizabeth Janes Harwood was baptised on 11 July 1764 in Petworth and was the daughter of John Harwood (c1739-1771) and Elizabeth Jeanes.

   As a widow Elizabeth Willard married Thomas Saunders by banns on 20 April 1794 in Petworth.  He was a bachelor.  The witnesses to their marriage were Thomas Booker and William Pullin.

   Thomas died aged 48 years and was buried on 26 October 1804 in Petworth.

   William and Elizabeth had the following children:

   1. William Willard was born on 15 November 1787 and baptised on 6 December 1787 in Petworth.  He died as an infant and was buried on 22 January 1789 in Petworth.

   2. Elizabeth Willard was born on 20 January 1789 and baptised on 18 February 1789 in Petworth.

      Elizabeth married William Briggs by banns on 15 April 1811 in Petworth.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster.  The witnesses to their marriage were J. Randall and Elizabeth Briggs.

      William was born on 27 December 1787 and baptised on 30 December 1787 in Petworth.  He was the son of Edward Briggs and Hannah.

      William and Elizabeth had the following children:

      1. William Briggs was born on 21 March 1812 and baptised on 17 May 1812 in Petworth.

      2. Eliza Briggs was baptised on 28 January 1819 in Petworth.  The baptism register noted that her father was a bricklayer.

         Eliza had an illegitimate son:

         1. William Edward Briggs was baptised on 27 September 1843 in Petworth.

      3. John Briggs was baptised on 11 October 1821 in Petworth, at which time his father was a bricklayer.

      4. James Briggs was baptised on 17 January 1825 in Petworth, at which time his father was a bricklayer.

      5. George Briggs was baptised on 2 April 1829 in Petworth, at which time his father was a bricklayer.

      6. Alfred Briggs was baptised on 17 April 1835 in Petworth, at which time his father was a bricklayer.

   3. Robert Willard was baptised on 20 February 1791 in Petworth.  He died aged 24 years and was buried on 24 July 1815 in Petworth.
