Thomas WHITEMAN
(1822-1916)
and Sarah J. WEEKS (?-1894)

Thomas Whiteman and Sarah J. Weeks
married on 1
August 1841 at St. Andrew's Church, Parramatta, New South Wales,
Australia. He was then a
bricklayer.
(They were not my direct ancestors. Thomas was the great nephew of my 4x
Great Grandmother.)
Thomas Whiteman was baptised on 3 February 1822 in
Udimore, Sussex. He was the son of
Stephen Whiteman
(1797-1890) and Ann
Maria Eldridge (1798-1877). At the time of his
baptism his father was a bricklayer. He died on 4
December 1916 at the district hospital in Parramatta and was buried on 6
December 1916 at the Methodist Cemetery, Parramatta. His death
certificate notes that he spent 5 years in South Australia and 1 year in
Victoria. He was named
as a beneficiary in his father's will. Thomas emigrated from
Sussex to Australia in 1837 (see his parent's page for more details.)
Sarah J. Weeks was the daughter of James Weeks and Sarah
Chapman. She died in 1894.

J. Weeks had 9 known children:

Chapman Thomas Whiteman was born on 9 June 1844 in
Parramatta.

George Henry Whiteman was born on 3 February 1846
in Parramatta.

Emily Eliza Whiteman was born in 1849 in Adelaide,
South Australia.

Sarah Jane Whiteman was born 15 June 1850 in
Brighton, Adelaide.

Annie Maria Whiteman was born in 1852 in Sydney.

John Whiteman was born on 31 December 1853 in
Melbourne. He died on
19 September 1926. When his son was born in 1894, John was
said to have been a 43 year old carter and gave his place of birth
as Melbourne, Victoria. He then had 7 living children, 5 males
and 2 females. John married
Caroline Mobbs
in July 1881 in Parramatta, New South Wales. He was then said
to be 27 years old, and his parents were named as Thomas
Whiteman and Sarah Weeks. John and Caroline had the following children:

Percival Thomas Whiteman was born in 1881 and
died in 1968 in Wyong.

Spenser George Whiteman was born in 1883 and
died in 1902 in Parramatta.

Lionel Claude Whiteman was born in 1886 and
died in 1944 in Parramatta.

John Albert Whiteman was born in 1888 and died
in 1960 in Parramatta.

Lucy E. Whiteman was born in
1890.
-
William Frank Whiteman was born in 1892 and
died in 1962 in Burwood.
-
Edward Donald Whiteman was born on 12 March
1894 in Gladstone Street, Parramatta. He died on 5 August
1964 in Gladesville.
Edward married Rubina Peare
in 1918 at Marrickville in Sydney. They lived in Five
Dock, New South Wales. Rubina's parents emigrated from
Plymouth, Devon in 1882 on board the "Peterborough". They were
originally from Middlesex, England.
Edward and Rubina had 2 sons:

Donald R. Whiteman married
Gwenn and they had 3 sons.

Mervyn Andrew John Whiteman married Olive Morrell and they had 3 children. He
then married Lorraine Windsor and they had
a daughter.

Annie M. Whiteman was born in
1896 and died in 1902 in Parramatta.

Nessie Whiteman was born in 1899.
-
Stephen Whiteman was born on 9 October 1855 in
Parramatta.
-
James Whiteman was born in 1857 in Parramatta.
-
Thomas Whiteman was born on 14 November 1858 in
Parramatta.
