Thomas WHITE (c1640-?)
and
Joan (c1640-?)
and Ann LANGRIDGE (1643-1682)

Thomas White
and
Ann Langeredge
may have been my 8x Great Grandparents.
They married on 2 January 1665/6 in East
Grinstead, Sussex. Thomas had previously married Jone. No
possible marriage for them has been found in the Sussex or Surrey marriage
indexes.
Thomas White's
date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
Joan's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
Ann Langridge
was baptised on 10 May 1643 in East Grinstead. She was the daughter of
John Langridge (c1620-1686) and
Alice Fieldwick (1623-1692).
Ann White, widow was buried on 25 August 1682 in East
Grinstead (thanks to Nigel Sawyer for finding this date).
Thomas White and Joan had 1 known son:
-
John White was baptised on 14 January 1662/3 in East Grinstead.
Both his parents were named in the baptism register.
He may have married Elizabeth Doust on 22 October 1693 in East
Grinstead.
Thomas White and
Ann Langridge had 3 known children:
-
Judith White, my possible my 7x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 10 November 1666 in East Grinstead.
She may have married my 7x Great Grandfather
John Comber (1660-1729) in 1690 in Balcombe, Sussex. Or instead, she may have married Thomas Dumbrill
on 5 May 1698 in East Chiltington, Sussex. (I have checked a
transcript of the East Chiltington register and there were no further
details recorded against their marriage, nor were there any Dumbrill
children baptised in East Chiltington between 1700-25.) Judith
baptised in November 1666 was the granddaughter of John and Alice
Langridge, both of whom left wills, and nether mentioned their
granddaughter Judith.
-
An unbaptised daughter of Thomas White was buried on 10
November 1666 in East Grinstead - a twin to Judith? (Thanks to
Nigel Sawyer for finding this date.)
-
William White was baptised on 11 December 1668 in East Grinstead.
