John WHITE (c1710-?)
and Mary BRABY (c1710-?)

John White
and
Mary Braby
married on 4 October 1730 at the parish church of St. Mary's in Pulborough,
Sussex. They were both then of Pulborough. (They were not my
direct ancestors.)
John White's
date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me. Might he have been
baptised on 21 September 1697 in Pulborough and have been the son of
Thomas White and
Ann Skinner? John may have
been buried on 2 November 1737 in Pulborough, but unfortunately the burial
register only records that John White was buried.
Mary Braby's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
Might she have been baptised on 8 February 1701/2 in Pulborough and have
been the daughter of John Braby and Susan Harmond?
She may have been buried on 7 April 1745 in Pulborough, as Mary
White, widow.
On 8 March 1735 a settlement certificate was issued by the overseers of
Storrington parish to those of Pulborough in respect of John White
a married man with children.
John White and
Mary Braby had 3 known children:
-
Hugh White was baptised on 26
September 1731 in Pulborough. Only his father's name was recorded in
the baptism register. He was buried on 7 May 1808 in Pulborough.
Hugh married Christian Booker by banns on 13 October 1761
in Pulborough. He was then from Shipley, Sussex. The witnesses
to their marriage were Daniel Searle and Hugh
Mancer.
Christian died aged 84 years and was buried on 18 August 1822 in Pulborough.
Might she have been the daughter of John Booker and
Ann Norman who married in 1718 in Fittleworth, Sussex?
Hugh and Christian had the following children:
-
Hugh
White was baptised on 15 August 1762 in West Chiltington,
Sussex.
-
Mary
White was baptised on 27 January 1765 in Pulborough.
-
Sarah
White was baptised on 22 February 1767 in Pulborough.
-
John
White was baptised on 4 June 1769 in Pulborough.
-
Ann
White was baptised on 14 June 1772 in Pulborough.
-
Elizabeth White was baptised on 23 October 1774 in Pulborough.
-
Phebe White
was baptised on 29 November 1779 in Pulborough. She married
Richard Mills
in 1798. (They have their own page.)
-
John White was baptised on 11 December 1733 in Pulborough. Only
his father's name was recorded in the baptism register.
(Another John White was baptised on 23 August 1742 in
Pulborough, the son of Edward White.)
-
Mary White was baptised on 11 May 1736 in Pulborough.
Only her father's name was recorded in the baptism register.
She may have been buried in Pulborough on 21 December 1744, but the burial
register only records that Mary White was buried.
There was also a Mary White born in 1737, the daughter of
William White, and a Mary White born in 1738,
daughter of Richard White.
