Ralph WEST (c1650-1736)

and Jane HUCHEN (c1660-1736)

 

Ralph West and Jane Huchen married on 25 August 1682 in Pulborough, Sussex.  (They were not my direct ancestors, but I am wondering if Ralph may have been the brother of my 8x great grandfather, Robert West.)

Ralph West's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Might he have been baptised on 29 September 1654 in Bolney, Sussex, the son of Edward West and Timothea Scars?  He was buried on 13 June 1736 in Billingshurst, Sussex.  Ralph was a shoemaker.

Jane Huchen's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She was buried on 18 June 1736 in Billingshurst

 

Ralph West and Jane Huchen had 6 known children:

  1. Sarah West was baptised on 10 July 1683 in Billingshurst and buried there on 28 June 1697.

  2. Ralph West was baptised on 17 November 1685 in Billingshurst.

  3. Jane West was baptised on 25 March 1688 in Billingshurst.  A Jane West of Stopham, Sussex married Stephen Hurst of Billingshurst on 20 November 1710 in Fittleworth.  However, there was another Jane West who was baptised in 1683 in Billingshurst.

  4. Elizabeth West was baptised on 28 April 1691 in Billingshurst.  She may have married Peter Marden by banns on 22 May 1715 in Billingshurst.  He was then said to be from Wisborough Green.  Peter was baptised on 14 June 1693 in Wisborough Green, Sussex and was the son of John Marden and Ann.  However, there was another Elizabeth West baptised in 1686 in Billingshurst.

  5. John West was baptised on 28 August 1694 in Billingshurst.  He was buried there on 31 December 1772.

    John married Elizabeth Greenfield, a widow on 17 March 1720 in Billingshurst.  Elizabeth was buried on 11 August 1758 in Billingshurst.

    John and Elizabeth had the following children:

    1. Mary West was baptised on 12 March 1721 in Billingshurst.

    2. Jane West was baptised on 8 April 1722 in Billingshurst and buried there as an infant on 12 November 1723.

    3. William West was baptised on 26 July 1723 in Billingshurst.

    4. Sarah West was baptised on 5 August 1726 in Billingshurst and buried there on 7 August 1726.

  6. William West was baptised on 27 May 1701 in Billingshurst.  The baptism register described his father as a shoemaker.
