Before her marriage Ann had an illegitimate son, however, James and Ann
were witnesses to the marriage of George Seagrave and
Jane Norrell on 8 October 1806 in East Dean, so might
James have been the father of Ann's child:
When the 1851 census was recorded the couple were living in East Dean.
They were both aged 63 years and James was a woodcutter. Two of their
unmarried sons were then living with them as well as their married daughter
Louisa and her husband and children.

Frances West was baptised on 8 March 1812 in East Dean.

David West was baptised on 13 March 1814 in East Dean.
The baptism register noted that his father was a labourer. He died
aged 38 years in Westhampnett and was buried on 21 March 1852 in East Dean.
David married Ann Maria Harbour on 1 June 1836 in Bepton,
Sussex. He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both
of Bepton.
Ann Maria died aged 27 years and was buried on 5 August 1845 in East Dean.
When the 1851 census was recorded, David was a 36 year old pauper and
labourer living in the Westhampnett union workhouse along with his 4
children.
David and Ann Maria had the following children:

William West was baptised on 26 October 1836 in East
Dean, at which time his father was a labourer. He died as an
infant and was buried on 2 November 1836 in East Dean.

Elizabeth West was baptised on 10 October 1837 in East
Dean, at which time her father was a labourer. She was 13 years
old in 1851.

Esther West was baptised on 1 April 1839 in East Dean,
at which time her father was a labourer. She was 11 years old in
1851.

Henry West was born about 1841 in Cocking. He was
10 years old in 1851.

James West was baptised on 12 March 1843 in Cocking.
He was 7 years old in 1851.

Alfred West was baptised on 21 March 1845 in Cocking.
He died aged 1 year and was buried on 22 March 1846 in East Dean.
The burial register noted that he was from Charlton.

Eunice West was baptised on 11 February 1816 in East Dean,
at which time her father was said to be a labourer.
Eunice married Henry Levett by banns on 25 February 1837 in
Lodsworth, Sussex. She was then a spinster and he a bachelor and they
were both of Lodsworth.

Louisa West was baptised on 26 July 1818 in East Dean, at
which time her father was a labourer.
Louisa married Thomas Horne by banns on 25 December 1844 in
East Dean. He was a bachelor and labourer and she a spinster.
Their fathers were named as Charles Horne and James
West who were both labourers. The witnesses to their marriage
were Caroline Eliza Bridger and Benjamin Bridger.
Thomas was born about 1823 in Aldingbourne.
In 1851 the couple and their 2 children were living with Louisa parents.
Thomas was a 28 year old gardener and Louisa was said to be 30 years old.

Thomas Horne was baptised on 4 January 1846 in East
Dean, at which time his father was a labourer. He was a 5 year old
scholar in 1851.

Ann Horne was born baptised on 26 March 1848 in East
Dean, at which time her father was a labourer. She was 3 years old
in 1851.

Ann West was baptised on 11 December 1820 in East Dean, at
which time her father was a labourer. She died aged 5 years and was
buried on 17 November 1825 in East Dean.

Charles West was baptised on 2 March 1823 in East Dean, at
which time his father was a labourer. He died aged 39 years and was
buried on 29 July 1862 in East Dean.

William West was baptised on 27 March 1825 in East Dean, at
which time his father was a labourer. In 1851 he was an unmarried 28
year old wood cutter living at home with his parents.
William married Sarah Austin on 4 April 1855 in East Dean.
He was a bachelor and labourer and she a spinster. Their fathers were
named as James West a labourer and Harry Austin
a blacksmith. The witnesses to their marriage were George
Smith and Charlotte Austin.
Sarah was baptised on 16 November 1831 in East Dean, at which time her
father was a blacksmith from Molecomb. She was the daughter of
Harry Austin and Ruth Norrell.
In 1871 the couple and 4 children were living in East Dean and William was a
46 year old labourer in woods. Sarah was 39.

year old labourer in woods.

Dean, at which time her father was a labourer. She was a 10 year
old scholar in 1871.

Dean. In 1871 she was 5 years old.

which time his father was a labourer. In 1851 he was an unmarried 22
