My Webb Ancestors
I have 2 Webb ancestral lines. The most recent link was from Berkshire
with a 2x Great Grandmother
Mary
Elizabeth Webb who was born in Beenham in 1836. My second
connection was from Sussex and with a 7x Great Grandmother
Mary Webb who married in 1712 in Hollington.
Berkshire Webbs
I must give my very grateful thanks to Geoff Webb, who has
provided very nearly all the information in this site about the family and
descendants of
Elisha Webb. Geoff descends from Elisha's youngest son,
Joseph Webb,
whilst I descend from his second eldest son
Richard Webb.
Richard's daughter
Mary
Elizabeth Webb was my 2x Great Grandmother. She was born in Beenham, Berkshire, but
baptised in Mortimer, Berkshire in 1836. She died of Scarlet Fever in
1874 when the youngest of her three children was just 22 months old. She
married
John Warman in 1866 in Reading. Both were from Primititve
Methodist families.
Mary Elizabeth's mother was Elizabeth
Ann Tyler and she was about 23 years old when she married
Richard Webb
who was then about 46. The couple had 9 children.
Richard's mother Judith Ham
married Elisha
Webb in Bramley, Hampshire in 1783 and they had 10 children.
Elisha may have been baptised in Nuneaton, Warkwickshire, the son of
Richard Webb. Elisha was the heir of Robert Webb
(1715-1780), and I am wondering if Robert was the Grandfather of Elisha, or
maybe an Uncle.
Sussex Webbs
My 7x Great Grandmother,
Mary
Webb, married in Hollington, Sussex in 1712 to
Thomas
Stoneham. At the time of their marriage they were both of
Hollington, but neither would seem to have been baptised there. Mary
was most probably baptised in Bexhill in 1691, the daughter of John
Webb and Elizabeth Jenner.
