Joshia Warman
and Sarah Holloway were the 2x Great Grandparents of Mark Warman.
They married in the fourth quarter of 1856 in the Bradfield registration district.
Josiah Warman
was born on Tuesday 16 November 1830 in Beenham and
baptised on Sunday 6 March 1831 into the faith of the Reading, Berkshire
Primitive Methodists. He was the second son
of
George Warman (1804-1883) and
Martha Bosher (1802-1878). He died on 19 January 1915 aged 89
years and was buried in Beenham. There is a headstone for Josiah in
the extended churchyard, outside the Lych-gate, opposite the church, which
reads:

Josiah left a Will dated 1 January 1909, which was proved on 12 August 1915.
The executors were his son John Warman and daughter Sarah Ann
Buckland. His will also mentioned son William Warman,
daughter Lily Phillips and granddaughter Kathleen Winifred Burgess
(she may have been born in the third quarter of 1899 in the Guildford
registration district).
Sarah Holloway
was baptised on Sunday 30 March 1834 in Bucklebury,
Berkshire and was the daughter of William Holloway and Sarah
Hickson. She died aged 50 years and was buried on Thursday 26 June 1884 in
Beenham.
In 1861, 1871, 1881 and 1891 the family were of
The Stocks, Beenham, and Josiah was a Baker and Grocer. Next door was
the Post Office. In 1901 Josiah
aged 70 was living on his own means in Beenham.

was born in 1857 in Beenham (second
quarter). He died aged 24 years and was buried on Thursday 23 February
1882 in Beenham.

Sarah Ann Warman
was born in 1859 in Beenham (second
quarter). She
married Ephraim George Buckland in the first quarter of 1883 in the
Bradfield Registration District. He was born about 1852 in Cumnor,
Berkshire, and was the son of George Buckland (c1827-?). In
1901 the family were living in Englefield, where (Ephraim) George was a
Game Keeper - he seems to have dropped Ephraim from his name. Ephraim and Sarah had 3 known children:

George Buckland was born 1883 in Theale, Berkshire (fourth quarter).
In 1901 he was a Joiner and Carpenter.

Edward Warman
Buckland was born about 1885 in Theale (first quarter). In
1901 he was a Game Keeper.

Buckland was born about 1889 in Theale.

William Warman
was born 1861 in Beenham. In 1881 he
was a Baker and Grocer and living with his parents. He married
Jane about or before 1885. Jane was also born about 1861 in Beenham.
From at least 1892 until at least 1903, William was a Butcher in Beenham.

Emily Warman was baptised on Sunday 18 October 1885 in Theale. Her
father was then a Labourer. The death of a Florence Emily
Warman aged 0 was registered in the fourth quarter of 1885 in the
Bradfield registration district.

Warman was born in 1886 in Theale (third quarter).

Nellie
Warman was born about 1889 in Beenham.

Kate Warman
was born in 1890 in Beenham (fourth quarter).

George
Warman was born 1892 in Beenham (second quarter). He was
baptised on Sunday 5 June 1892 in Beenham. His nickname was
'Hoppy'.

Charles
Warman was born on Saturday 23 September 1893 in Beenham and baptised there
on Sunday 3 December 1893. He was
killed in action during WW1 on Wednesday 1 August 1917 in Belgium. He was
then of the 46th Company Machine Gun Corps. His
name has been recorded on the
Beenham War Memorial, and on the Wantage War Memorial, and also on
the Menin Gate in Ypres. Between 1915-1916 he was a Policeman in
Wantage.

was born in 1896 in Beenham (first quarter) and baptised there on Sunday 3 May
1896.

Edith Warman
was born in 1898 in Beenham (first quarter) and baptised there on Sunday 6
February 1898.

Warman was born in 1899 in Beenham (third quarter) and baptised
there on Sunday 3 September 1899.

on Sunday 19 August 1900.

died aged 16 and was buried on Wednesday 18 May 1881 in Beenham. There is a
memorial in Beenham churchyard, which reads:

was born about 1868 in Beenham.

Lily Warman
was born about 1870 in Beenham. In
1891 she was living at home with her widower father and younger sister
Kate. She
married George Winter Phillips in 1893 (third quarter). In 1901
the couple were living in Walthamstow, Essex and George was a Police
Constable. He was born about 1866 in Wiveliscombe, Somerset.

Kate Warman
was born 1873 in Beenham (fourth quarter).
She was not mentioned in her father's 1909 will.
She may have married George Webb in 1897 (fourth quarter). In
1901 George was a 36 year old Butcher living in the St. Mary's district of
Reading.
