John WARD
(1711-1766)
and Elizabeth TOOTH (c1710-1739)
and Elizabeth GANDER (c1715-1781)

John Ward may have married twice. Firstly to Elizabeth Tooth
on 8 June 1733. And then to Elizabeth Gander on 5 May 1741.
Both marriages took place in Henfield, Sussex. (They were not my direct
ancestors. John was the brother of Thomas Ward, who most
probably was my 6x great grandfather.)
John Ward was born on 21 January and baptised on 2 February 1710/11
in Henfield, Sussex. He was the son of
Joseph Ward
(c1685-1723) and
Mary Vinnall (c1685-1733). He was buried on 9 April 1766 in
Henfield.
Elizabeth Tooth's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
She was probably buried on 25 October 1739 in Henfield.
Elizabeth Gander's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to
me. She was buried on 17 September 1781 in Henfield and the burial
register recorded that Elizabeth Ward was a widow.
Neither Elizabeth Tooth nor Elizabeth Gander would seem to
have been baptised in Henfield. I have checked a transcript of the
Henfield baptism register from 1700-20 and did not find any Tooth or Gander
baptisms.
