Humphrey WALES (1579-1645)

and Alice GRAY (c1580-?)

Humphrey Wales and Alice Gray were my 10x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on 13 September 1604 in Washington, Sussex.  She was then of Washington.

Humphrie Wales was baptised on 15 November 1579 in Bolney, Sussex.  He was the son of John Wales and Elizabeth.  He was buried on 20 September 1645 in Bolney and the burial register recorded his name as Humfrey Walles.

Alice Gray's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

Humphrey Wales and Alice Gray had 7 known children:

  1. John Walls was born in Cuckfield, as per the Bolney register, and baptised in Bolney on 22 October 1608.  The Cuckfield register records that he was baptised in Cuckfield on 23 October 1608, as John Walles.

  2. Elizabeth Wales was baptised on 23 January 1611/2 in Bolney.

  3. Mary Wales, my 9x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 19 February 1614/5 in Bolney.  She married Thomas Cripps in 1634.  (They have their own page.)

  4. Richard Wales was baptised on 23 November 1618 in Bolney and buried there on 13 April 1626.

  5. Jane Wales was baptised on 18 February 1620/1 in Bolney.

  6. Aelse Wales was baptised on 17 May 1624 in Bolney.

  7. Humphry Wales was baptised on 11 May 1628 in Bolney and buried there on 17 May 1628.
