Thomas WALDER (c1520-1587)

and Lettyce (?-?)

and Emma PATCHING (c1530-1613)

Thomas Walder and Emma Patching married on 30 June 1549 in Horsham, Sussex.  Thomas had previously married Lettyce.

Thomas Walder's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  He was of Southover.  He was an overseer of his father-in-law's 1557 will and to Richard Walder in 1576.  Thomas was buried on 10 September 1587 in Horsham and was described in the burial register as an old man.  His will was dated 17 September and proved on 13 October 1587 (dates from John Comber's Sussex Genealogies).  In his will he mentioned his son-in-law Nicholas Adams.  He appointed Henry Nye and his brother-in-law Henry Patching as overseers to his will.

Lettyce's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

Emma Patching's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She was the daughter of Thomas Patching and Margaret.  Emma was named in her father's will of 1557.  Emma was the executor of her husband's 1587 will.  In 1598 she held Walders and Souters.  She was buried on 18 September 1598 in Horsham and was described in the burial register as an old widow.

Thomas Walder and Lettyce had 4 known children:

  3. Jane Walder was baptised on 17 May 1545 in Horsham and buried there on 30 May 1545.

  4. Thomas Walder was baptised on 29 May 1546 in Horsham.  He may have died as an infant or he may have been buried on 9 April 1557, but the burial register records that he was the son of Thomas and Emme.
