and Bridget GREENFIELD (1646-1689)
Thomas Wady and Bridget Greenfield
were issued with a marriage licence on 29 October 1668 by the Archdeaconry of
Chichester. It noted that he was a yeoman and she a spinster and they
were both of Billingshurst, Sussex. They married as Thomas
Wade and Bridgett Greenfield on 15 November 1668
in Billingshurst. (They were not my direct ancestors.)
Thomas Wady's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown,
to me. A database at ancestry.co.uk suggests he was the son of
William Wady and Elizabeth Giles who
married in 1630 in Storrington, Sussex. A Thomas Wade
was buried on 5 July 1677 in Pulborough.
Bridget Greenfield was baptised on 31 May 1646 in
Billingshurst, Sussex. She was the daughter of William
Greenfield. Her father was a butcher. Only her father's
name was recorded in the baptism register. Her mother may have been
Jane Hill who had married William Greenfield
in 1643 in Billingshurst. Bridget Wady was buried on
7 June 1689 in Pulborough, Sussex.
Thomas Wady and
3 or 4 known children:
was baptised on 27 August 1669 in Billingshurst. He married
in 1691. (They have their own page.)
John Wady was baptised on 15 October 1671 in
Billingshurst. A John Wady was buried on 8 May
1752 in Billingshurst and unfortunately no further information was
recorded in the register. Another
was baptised in Billingshurst in 1693.
John may have had the following child:
Jane Wady was baptised on 20 August 1693 in
Jane may have married John Whiting
on 22 February 1715 in Billingshurst. He was from Penbury
alias Pippenbury in Kent.
Joane Wady was baptised on 4 Mary 1675 in Billingshurst,
at which time her parents were from Pulborough.
Sarah Wady may have been part of this family.
Sarah had the following child:
Charity Wady was baptised on 15 September 1696 in
Billingshurst. Charity may have married Richard Foice
on 16 April 1727 in Billingshurst.
