Luke WADY (1733-1775)

and Priscilla HAYLER (1740-1827)

 

Luke Wady and Priscilla Hayler married by banns on 18 October 1759 in Pulborough, Sussex.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster.  The witnesses to their marriage were John Hayler senior and John Hayler junior.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Luke Wady was baptised on 7 December 1733 in Pulborough.  He was the son of Luke Wady (1703-1782) and Mary Clement.  He was buried in Pulborough on 6 January 1775.

Priscilla Hayler was baptised on 3 May 1740 in Pulborough, Sussex.  She was the daughter of John Hayler and Ann Jupp (?-1741).  She died aged 88 years and was buried on 19 August 1827 in Pulborough.  The burial register recorded her name as Priscilla Neppard.

As a widow, Pricilla Weady married John Leopard by banns on 16 August 1799 in Billingshurst, Sussex.  The witnesses to their marriage were William Mills and James Champion.

John Neopard was buried on 8 May 1803 in Pulborough.

 

Luke Wady and Priscilla Hayler had 11 known children:

  1. Luke Wady was baptised on 24 February 1760 in Pulborough.  He married Elizabeth Hailer in 1789.  (They have their own page.)

  2. James Wady was baptised on 23 April 1761 in Pulborough and buried there on 3 May 1761.

  3. Edward Wady was baptised on 19 February 1764 in Pulborough.  He may have married Ann Barnet in 1792.  (They have their own page.)

  4. Sarah Wady was baptised on 24 February 1765 in Pulborough.

    Sarah may have married James Ayling by banns on 12 October 1786 in Pulborough.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Pulborough.  The witnesses to their marriage were James Hayler and Daniel Searle.

  5. Thomas Wady was baptised on 7 September 1766 in Pulborough.

    Thomas may have married Elizabeth Junin by banns on 16 May 1793 in Pulborough.  He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Pulborough.  The witnesses to their marriage were Sarah Heath and John Jupp.

  6. Ann Wady was baptised on 31 January 1768 in Pulborough.

    Ann may have married William Tree by banns on 31 October 1793 in Pulborough.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Pulborough.  The witnesses to their marriage were Nicholas Warner and Thomas Ayling.

  7. Arthur Wady was baptised on 1 October 1769 in Pulborough and probably died as an infant.

  8. Arthur Wady was baptised on 30 July 1771 in Pulborough and buried there on 1 August 1771 as an infant.

  9. John Wady was baptised on 18 April 1773 in Pulborough.

  10. Benjamin Wady was baptised on 23 April 1775 in Pulborough and buried there on 1 August 1775.

  11. Hannah Wady was baptised on 23 April 1775 in Pulborough and buried there on 18 January 1776 as an infant.

 

Priscilla Wady, nee Hayler had the following child:

  1. Maria Wady was born on 20 April 1777 and baptised on 27 April 1777 in Pulborough.  A warrent was issued on 30 July 1777 naming her father as George Pulling a husbandman.  Maria married John Lidbetter in 1797.  (They have their own page.)
