Thomas VIGOR (1795-1878)

and Hannah EASTWOOD (1799-1877)

 

Thomas Vigor and Hannah Eastwood married on 8 February 1819 in Southwark, London.  (They were not my direct ancestors.  Hannah was the Grand Niece of my 6x Great Grandmother, Frances Monk.)

Thomas Vigor was baptised on 29 January 1795 in Burwash, Sussex.  He was the son of James Vigor (1744-1836) and Mary Carrick Wood (1749-1829).  He was buried on 1 January 1878 in Burwash.  Thomas was a master butcher and/or victualler.

Hannah Eastwood was baptised on 16 November 1799 in Burwash, Sussex.  She was the daughter of Samuel Eastwood (1760-?) and Sarah Thompson.  She was buried there on 14 September 1877.

 

Thomas Vigor and Hannah Eastwood had 4 known children:

  1. Thomas Vigor was baptised on 8 October 1819 in Burwash.

    Thomas married Jessie Janet who was born about 1823 in Scotland.

    Thomas and Jessie had the following children:

    1. Thomas Vigor was born about 1848 in Folkestone, Kent.

    2. Charles Vigor was born on 9 January and baptised on 28 January 1849 in Burwash.  He died aged 52 years in about February 1901 in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.  He was a watchmaker.  Charles married Elizabeth who was born about 1855 in Hunton, Kent.

    3. Margaret Hannah Vigor was baptised on 22 June 1851 in Burwash.

    4. Alexander James Vigor was baptised on 31 August 1862 at St. James in Tunbridge Wells.

    5. Arthur Ernest Vigor was baptised on 2 March 1863 at St. James in Tunbridge Wells.

    6. Frederick J Vigor was born about 1867 in Tunbridge Wells.

  2. James Vigor was baptised on 10 June 1821 in Burwash.  He died aged 84 years and his death was registered in the third quarter of 1821 in the Steyning registration district.

  3. Mary Elizabeth Vigor was baptised on 27 April 1823 in Burwash.  She married George Besh on 15 April 1846 in Burwash.  He was a cooper and had been born in about 1821.

  4. Sarah Anne Vigor was baptised on 9 September 1832 in Burwash.
