John VIGOR (1846-1936)

and Harriet BARDEN (1848-1934)

 

John Vigor and Harriet Barden married on 29 May 1869 in Burwash, Sussex.  (They were not my direct ancestors.  Harriet was the Great Grand Niece of my 4x Great Grandfather, Edward Boorman, and also the  2nd Great Grand niece of my 6x Great Grandmother, Frances Monk.)

John Vigor was born on 24 December 1846 and baptised on 7 February 1847 in Burwash, Sussex.  He was the son of James Vigor (1820-1908) and Sarah Elizabeth Huntly (1823-1852).  John died on 9 April 1936 in Burwash.

Harriet Barden was born on 30 March 1848 and baptised on 28 May 1848 in Heathfield.  She was the daughter of James Barden (1812-1879) and Mary Barrow (1814-1890).  She died in 1934.

John Vigor and Harriet Barden had 14 known children:

  1. Albert Vigor was baptised on 5 December 1869 in Burwash.

  2. John Vigor was born on 9 April 1871 in Heathfield and baptised on 4 June 1871 in Burwash.  John was a labourer in the gas works.

    John married Cornelia Piternalia Verhoeff on 11 June 1893 in Chelsea, London.

    Cornelia was born on 21 May 1872 in Aldershot, Hampshire and was the daughter of Hendrik Cornelis Verhoeff (1822-1871) and Annie Rebecca Phillips.

    John and Cornelia had 5 known children:

    1. Lilian Vigor was born in 1894 in Chelsea.

      Lilian married Charles Stanley Eldridge.

      Charles was born in 1891 in Catsfield, Sussex and was the son of David Eldridge and Caroline Kenward.

    2. Carrie May Vigor was born on 5 February 1895 in Chelsea.  She married Stanley Herbert Watson on 24 May 1923 in Godstone, Surrey.

  3. Lilly Vigor was baptised on 1 June 1873 in Burwash.

  4. Clara Jane Vigor was baptised on 6 December 1874 in Burwash.

  5. William James Vigor was baptised on 5 November 1876 in Burwash.

  6. Fanny Vigor was born on 28 June 1878 in Heathfield and baptised on 6 October 1878 in Burwash.

  7. Nellie Vigor was born on 28 September 1879 in Heathfield and baptised on 4 January 1880 in Burwash.

  8. Henry Vigor was born on 13 April 1881 and baptised on 5 June 1881 in Burwash.

  9. Sarah Vigor was born on 6 January 1883 and baptised on 4 March 1883 in Burwash.

  10. Alfred Vigor was born on 23 June 1884 and baptised on 3 August 1884 in Burwash.  He was also known as Fred.

  11. Elizabeth Vigor was born about 1888.  She was also known as Bessie.

  12. James Vigor was born baptised on 7 September 1890 in Burwash.  He died aged 50 on 8 December 1940.

  13. Charles Vigor was born about 1891 in Burwash.

  14. Florence Vigor was born about 1893 in Burwash
