The Will of
Laurence TILLETT
(c1610-1672)

In the name of God Amen the three & twentieth day of July in the year of our
Ld God one thousand six hundred & seventy two accordinge to ye calculation
of ye church of England I
Laurence Tillett of
Billingshurst [---] in ye county of Sussex Carpenter being of perfect memory
& remembrance but sick in body praised be God doo make & ordain this my last
will & testament in manner & form followinge First I bequeath my soule into
the hands of Almighty God my maker hopinge if through the meritisious death
& passion of Jesus Christ my only Saviour & redeemer to receive free pardon
& forgiveness of all my sins and as for my body to bee buried in Christian
buryall in the churchyard of Billingshurst att ye discretion of my Extrix
hereafter named Item I give unto my eldest son Laurence
Tillett one shilling to bee pd him within one month after my
decease Item I give to my second son Jo Tillett
one shilling to be pd him within one month after my decease Item I
give to my daughter Elizabeth Tillett one shilling to bee
pd to her within one month after my decease Item all ye rest of my
goods & chattells my debts & Legacies & funerall expenses beinge first
discharge I give unto Elizabeth Tillett my lovinge wife
duringe the terms of he nrall life if shee doth not marry again after my
decease and thenafter her decease dyinge my will & pleasure is that my goods
& Chattells bee equally divided between Laurence Tillett &
John & Elizabeth my children but in case
ye sd Elizath my wife shall marry againe after my decease
then my will & pleasure is imediately after such marriage that my goods &
Chattles bee equally divided between four ye sd Elizabeth
my wife & Laurence Tillett & Jo &
Eliza my children And I doo make Elizabeth my wife
sole Extrix of this my last will & testament & I doo desire my lovinge
friends Thos Sturt of Billingshurst in ye County of Sussex
