Richard TULLETT (1826-1897)

and Caroline WADEY (1825-1882)

Richard Tullett and Caroline Wadey married on 31 July 1847 in Pyecombe, Sussex.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Richard Turner Tulet was baptised on 1 January 1826 in West Grinstead, Sussex.  He was the son of Mary Tullett (1809-?).  He died aged 71 years and his death was registered in the third quarter of 1897 in the Brighton registration district.  In 1841 he was living with his maternal grandparents.  (Another Richard Tullett, born in 1827 in West Grinstead, married Caroline Hills in 1851.)

Caroline Wadey was baptised on 30 October 1825 in Shipley, Sussex.  She was the daughter of David Wadey and Elizabeth Henty.  She died aged 56 years and her death was registered in the second quarter of 1882 in the Brighton registration district.  In 1881 Caroline was described as an invalid.

When the 1851 census was recorded the couple and their 3 young sons were living at 69 Pimlico in Brighton.  Richard was then a bricklayer's labourer and Caroline a needlewoman.  Also with them on census night were 12 year old visitor Caleb Wadey and 25 year old unmarried William Tullett.  In 1861 the family were living at 5 Vine Street in Brighton and Richard was a 35 year old labourer.  The family were still living at 5 Vine Street in 1871 and Richard was a 45 year old paver.  When the 1881 census was recorded the family were living at 15 Islingwood Place in Brighton and Richard was a Corporation pavior.
