Richard TULLETT (1709-?)

and Elizabeth (?-1780)

Richard Tullett and Elizabeth may have married sometime before or about 1745, and possibly in or near Crawley, Sussex.

Richard Toolet may have been baptised on 24 May 1709 in Horsham, Sussex, the son of Peter Toolet and Mary LocketRichard Tullett was a witness to the marriage of George Tapsell and Hannah Burchall on 7 September 1762 in Crawley.  He died after 1780.

Elizabeth's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Elizabeth wife of Richard Tullett was buried on 28 January 1780 in Crawley.

Richard Tullett together with wife Mary and their unnamed children settled in Worth from Crawley, or vice versa, on 26 March 1752.

Richard Tullett and Elizabeth had 5 known children:

  1. Edward Tullett was baptised on 29 December 1745 in Crawley, Sussex, the son of Richard and Elizabeth.  He married Jane Smith in 1772.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Mary Tullett was baptised on 3 May 1747 in Crawley, the daughter of Richard and Mary.  She died as an infant and was buried on 13 March 1748 in Crawley.

  3. John Tullett was baptised on 22 February 1751/2 in Crawley, the son of Richard and Mary.  He married Ann Burtenshaw in 1783.  (They have their own page.)

  4. Henry Tullett was baptised on 3 May 1754 in Crawley, the son of Richard and Elizabeth.  He died aged 74 years and was buried on 14 August 1828 in Crawley.

Henry may have married Elizabeth Langridge by banns on 11 October 1778 in Horsted Keynes, Sussex.  But another Henry Toolet was baptised on 1 July 1750 in Horley, the son of Edward Toolet and Mary.

Elizabeth may have died aged 80 years and have been buried on 19 May 1824 in Crawley.

Henry and Elizabeth had the the following children:

    1. Henry Tulet was born on 28 July 1779 and baptised on 22 August 1779 in Crawley.

    2. William Tullett was baptised on 13 May 1781 in Horley.  He may have died aged 74 years and have been buried on 15 November 1854 or he may have died aged 78 years and have been buried on 29 April 1860.  Both burials took place in Crawley.

William may have married Elizabeth Holder by banns on 27 July 1805 in Crawley.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Crawley.  The witnesses to their marriage were William Young and Hannah Thornton.  However, another William Tullett was baptised on 1 December 1781 in Crawley, the son of Charles Tullett and Rhoda Mitton.

    3. Edward Tullat was baptised on 14 March 1784 in Horley.

  5. Martha Tullett was baptised on 6 November 1757 in Crawley, the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth.  She may have married Thomas Sayers by banns on 20 April 1778 in Ifield, Sussex.  She was a spinster and he a bachelor and they were both of Ifield.
