Laurence TILLET (c1580-?)

and Mary GREENFIELD (c1585-1670)

Laurence Tyllet and Mary Greenfield married on 8 November 1607 in Billingshurst, Sussex.

Laurence Tyllet may have been born in the 1580's.

Mary Greenfield may have been born in the 1580's.  The Billingshurst burial register records that Mary Hailer an ancient widow and mother of Lawrence Tillett was buried on 9 August 1670.

A Larrance Tillet signed the 1641/2 Wisborough Green Protestation Return.

Laurence Tyllet and Mary Greenfield had 3 known children:

  1. William Tulet was baptised on 20 May 1610 in Pulborough, Sussex.  (Another William Tullett was baptised on 12 January 1604/5 in Ardingly.  He may have married Susan and they may have had children baptised in Sutton, Sussex.)

As William Tillet he may have married Alice Holland on 8 September 1634 in Billingshurst.

  2. Mary Tillett was baptised on 9 December 1617 in Billingshurst.

  3. Elizabeth Tillett was baptised on 26 March 1620 in Billingshurst.

Laurence and Mary may also have been the parents of:

  1. Deborah Tillett married Thomas Haylar on 16 May 1639 in Billingshurst.

  2. Laurence Tillot married Elizabeth Lunt in 1642.  (They have their own page.)

Might Laurence have had a brother named Peter?  As a Peter Tullet married Rachell Ireland on 27 April 1600 in Wisborough Green, Sussex, and then as Peter Tulat he may then have married Margery Garton on 23 June 1605 also in Wisborough Green.

Wisborough Green adjoins both Wisborough Green and Pulborough to the east, and Kirdford to the west.

An Awdry or Adrian Tullett had children baptised in Lurgashall in 1611, 1612, 1615 and 1618.

Lurgashall is separated from Kirdford by Northchapel.

An Edward Tullett had a son baptised in Rudgwick in 1618.

Rudgwick adjoins Wisborough Green and Billingshurst.

A Marian Tollatt/Tillett had children baptised in Worth in 1580 (Elizabeth and George) and a son in Kirdford in 1588 (John).  Might Marian have been the father of Laurence, Peter, Adrian and Edward?
