John TULLETT (1654-?)

and Phillippa (c1660-1736)

 

John Tullett and Phillippa married sometime before or about 1683.  No possible marriage has been found for them in the Sussex Family History Group's marriage index or the IGI.

John Tullett was baptised on 1 March 1653/4 in Horsham, Sussex.  He was the son of Edward Tullett (1618-1678) and Jane Stedman (1623-1681).

Phillippa's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She died in 1736 in Horham.

 

John Tullett and Phillippa had 8 known children:

  1. Philip Tullett (daughter) was baptised on 19 June 1683 in Horsham.

    As Philip Tulett she married James Illman on 4 April 1711 in Itchingfield, Sussex.  She was then of Rusper, Sussex.

    James may have been baptised on 14 March 1685/6 in Rusper and have been the son of John Illman and Margaret Hill.

    They had the following children:

    1. George Illman was baptised on 22 July 1711 in Rusper.

      George married Ann Butler on 1 March 1642/3 in Horsham.  She was then a spinster.

      They had the following children:

      1. George Illman was baptised on 30 January 1743/4 in Rusper.

      2. Phyllis Illman was baptised on 21 July 1745 in Rusper.

      3. Mary Illman was baptised on 1 November 1747 in Rusper.

      4. Jinny Illman was baptised on 23 June 1749 in Rusper.

      5. William Illman was baptised on 20 October 1751 in Rusper.

      6. Thomas Illman was baptised on 23 December 1753 in Rusper.

      7. Lydia Illman was baptised on 9 May 1756 in Rusper.  She married Thomas Wickins by banns on 1 August 1780 in Rusper.  She was of Rusper and he of Ifield.

      8. Charles Illman was baptised on 19 November 1758 in Rusper.  He may have married Mary Libbetter by banns on 19 June 1784 in Crawley.  He was a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Crawley.

    2. Mary Ilman was baptised on 21 March 1713 in Rusper.  She may have married John Weller on 4 November 1731 in Ifield, Sussex.  She was then of Ifield and he of Rusper.

    3. Margaret Illman was baptised on 25 March 1716 in Rusper.  She married John Francis on 18 August 1735 in Rusper.

    4. James Illman was baptised on 12 November 1718 in Rusper.

      James married Sarah Dale on 24 November 1747 in Rusper.  He was then described as junior.

      They had the following children:

      1. James Illman was baptised on 11 July 1748 in Rusper.

      2. Sarah Illman was baptised on 25 May 1753 in Rusper.

      3. David Illman was baptised on 1 March 1755 in Rusper.

      4. Jonathan Illman was baptised on 31 March 1766 in Rusper.

    5. William Illman was baptised on 9 January 1725/6 in Rusper.

  2. Anne Tullet was baptised on 18 September 1684 in Horsham.

  3. John Toolet was baptised on 29 December 1687 in Cowfold, Sussex.  The baptism register records that his father was of St. Leonard's forest in Beeding, Sussex.

  4. Edward Toolet was baptised on 14 July 1689 in Cowfold.  The baptism register records that his father was of St. Leonard's forest in Beeding, Sussex.

    Might he have married Elizabeth Hills on 26 May 1720 in Worth, Sussex.

    And might they have been the parents of:

    1. Edward Tullett was baptised on 16 February 1722/3 in Slaugham.  Only his father's name was recorded in the baptism register.  Did he marry Ann Sayers on 14 July 1742 in Horsham?  She was then a spinster.

  5. Mary Toolet was baptised on 31 January 1692/3 in Horsham.

    Mary may have married John Walder on 5 April 1730 in Ifield, Sussex.

    John was the son John Walder (1666-1741) a weaver and Ann.  He was buried on 19 February 1749/50.  John inherited Rapelands in Horsham from his father.

    John and Mary had the following children:

    1. Anne Walder was baptised on 5 March 1730/1 in Ifield and buried there on 16 February 1730/1.

    2. John Walder was baptised on 30 May 1732 in Ifield.

    3. Richard Walder was baptised on 3 March 1733/2 in Ifield.

    4. Mary Walder was baptised on 14 March 1735/6 in Ifield.

    5. Elizabeth Walder was baptised on 9 July 1738 in Ifield.

  6. John Toolet was baptised on 19 February 1693/4 in Horsham.

  7. William Tullett was baptised on 19 February 1692/3 in Horsham.  Was he issued a settlement bond to settle in Beeding in about 1704?

  8. Elizabeth Tulot was baptised on 16 January 1695/6 in Slaugham.

 

Did John and Phillippa also have a son named Peter Tullet who married Elizabeth Gratwick in Cowfold, Sussex in 1726?  I think it unlikely as they seem to have had their children baptised at regular intervals.
