Edward TULET (1745-1816)

and Jane SMITH (1750-1816)

 

Edward Tulet and Jane Smith married by licence on 11 December 1772 in Horley, Surrey.  He was then a bachelor of Worth, Sussex and she a spinster of Horley.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Edward Tullett was baptised on 29 December 1745 in Crawley, Sussex.  He was the son of Richard Tullett (1709-?) and Elizabeth (?-1780).  (The parishes of Crawley and Worth adjoin one another, as do Worth and Horley.)  He died aged 69, as per the burial register and was buried on 11 March 1816 in Worth.

Jane Smith was baptised on 9 December 1750 in Horley.  She was the daughter of Sarah Smith.  Jane died aged 68 years, as per the burial register and was buried on 11 March 1816 in Worth.

 

Edward Tulet and Jane Smith had 8 known children:

  1. James Tullett was baptised on 31 May 1773 in Worth.

  2. Richard Tulett was baptised on 3 September 1775 in Worth.  Might he have been named after his paternal grandfather?  He married Mary Pierce in 1803.  (They will have their own page.)

  3. Edward Tulett was baptised on 18 January 1778 in Worth.

    As Edward Tullett he married Mildred Lock by banns on 16 December 1801 in Worth.  She was a spinster and they were both of Worth.  The witnesses to their marriage were William Lock and Henry Knight.

    Mildred died aged 19 years and was buried on 1 March 1803 in Worth.

    Edward and Mildred had 1 known daughter:

    1. Ann Tullett was baptised on 28 March 1802 in Worth and buried there on 17 March 1805, aged 3 years.

    As a widower, Edward Tulitt married Ann Goaring by banns on 9 February 1807 in Worth.  She was a spinster and they were both of Worth.  The witnesses to their marriage were William Greenfield and Elizabeth Dearling Tingley.

    Edward and Ann had the following children:

    1. Elizabeth Tulett was baptised on 3 May 1807 in Worth.

    2. Jane Tulett was baptised on 29 November 1810 in Worth.

    3. Sarah Tulett was baptised on 17 April 1814 in Worth.

    4. Mary Tulett was baptised on 6 June 1819 in Worth.

    5. Edward Tulett was baptised on 13 April 1822 in Worth.

  4. Ann Tulett was  baptised on 20 February 1780 in Worth. 

    Ann married Thomas Snelling by banns on 12 October 1802 in Worth.  She was a spinster and he a bachelor.  The witnesses to their marriage were Edward Tulett and Elizabeth ?.

  5. John Tulett was baptised on 17 March 1782 in Worth.

  6. Peter Tulett was baptised on 5 September 1784 in Worth.  He married Elizabeth Dearling Tingley in 1808.  (They have their own page.)

  7. Thomas Tulitt was baptised on 30 November 1787 in Worth and buried there on 24 March 1816, aged 28 years.

  8. William Tulitt was baptised on 20 May 1792 in Worth.  His mother's name was recorded as Jenny in the baptism register.

 

 

Possible baptisms for Edward:

  1. Edward Toolet was baptised on 12 June 1743 in Horley, Surrey, the son of Edward Toolet and Mary.  This Edward Tullett may have married Joyce Miller on 20 November 1773 in Horley.

  2. Edward Tullett was baptised on 29 December 1745 in Crawley, Sussex, the son of Richard Tullett and Elizabeth.

  3. Edward Toolet was baptised on 1 April 1747 in Thursley, Surrey, the son of Edward Toolet and Diannia Venere, who had married on 31 May 1744 in Haslemere.

  4. Edward Tulat was baptised on 11 November 1748 in Haslemere, Surrey, the son of Edward Tulat and Anna.  An Edward Toolet married Ann Sayers, spinster, on 14 June 1742 in Horsham, Sussex.

  5. Edward Toolett was baptised on 16 July 1749 in Nuthurst, Sussex, the son of Edward Tulett and Catherine Bish who had married on 15 May 1738 in Nuthurst.

 

An Edward Tullet married Hannah Isted on 14 July 1774 in Horsted Keynes, Sussex.  They were both then of Horsted Keynes.  (They have their own page.)
