Edward TULLETT
(1620-?)
and Anne (c1625-1667)

Edward Tullett
and Anne may have married before or about 1660. No possible
marriage has been found in the Sussex Family History Group's marriage index
or the IGI.
Edward Tullett
may have been baptised on 25 June 1620 in Nuthurst, Sussex, and have been
the son of Thomas
Tullett (1572-1640) and Elizabeth. He may have been
buried on 20 August 1692 in Slaugham, Sussex as Edward Tulet who was
then of the parish of Beeding.
Anne's date
and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me. She was buried on 10
February 1666/7 in Slaugham and the burial register records that she was
Anne wife of Edward Tullet.
A Hearth Tax
assessment was under taken in 1662, but Edward's name does not appear in the
transcribed list of residents of the Borrough of Slaugham, which is where he
would seem to have had children baptised in 1660 and 1665. Where might
he have been in 1662, or was he too poor to have been assessed?
Edward Tullett
had 2 known children:
-
Anne Tulett was baptised on 15 April 1660 in Slaugham, Sussex.
Only her father's name was recorded in the baptism register. She
probably died as an infant.
-
Anne Tulett was baptised on 2 March 1664/5 in Slaugham.
Only her father's name was recorded in the baptism register.
She
may have married John Shaw on
19 April 1696 in Nuthurst, Sussex.
They had the following
children:
-
Mary Shawe
was baptised on 13 March 1697/8 in Nuthurst.
-
Sarah Shawe
was baptised on 25 May 1702 in Nuthurst.
-
John Shawe
was baptised on 8 May 1704 in Nuthurst.
-
Martha Shawe
was baptised on 11 March 1710/1 in Nuthurst. Might she have been
named after her mother's sister-in-law? Martha married Edward
Southon on 8 February 1729/30 in Horsham, Sussex.
Were Edward and Ann also the parents of:
-
Edward Tulett married
Martha Mitchell
in 1691. (They have their own page.)
