John TRUSLER (1738-1780)

Thomas HOLDEN (c1745-?)

and Elizabeth SNASHALL (1746-?)

 

John Trusler and Elizabeth Snashall may have been my 6x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on by banns on 16 October 1769 in West Grinstead, Sussex.  They both made their X marks.  The witnesses were Hannah Trusler (mark) and James Stiles (signed).  The banns were published on 24 and 31 September and 7 October 1769 in West Grinstead.  As a widow, Elizabeth married Thomas Holden, a widower, on 15 January 1785 in Woodmancote.  The witnesses to their marriage were Hannah Mashall and Richard French.

John Trusler was born on 6 March and baptised on 14 March 1738 in Henfield, Sussex.  He was the son of John Trusler and Elizabeth.  John was buried in West Grinstead on 17 June 1780.

Elizabeth Snashall was born on 14 May and baptised on 21 May 1746 in Henfield.  She was the daughter of 5 142 Thomas Snashall (1727-1805) and 5 142 Ann Norman (1723-1804).

Thomas Holden's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Thomas had previously married Ann Burtenshaw on 4 January 1775 in Woodmancote, when Thomas was of Henfield.  Ann was buried on 23 March 1781 in Woodmancote.  Thomas and Ann had 4 known children.

 

John Trusler and Elizabeth Snashall had 4 known children:

  1. Merry Trusler was baptised on 15 January 1770 in West Grinstead, Sussex.  (Not found in a transcript of the West Grinstead baptism register.)

  2. Hannah Trusler, my possible 5x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 16 April 1770 in West Grinstead.  She married William Parsons in 1791.  (They have their own page.)

  3. John Trusler was baptised on 18 February 1772 in West Grinstead.

  4. Thomas Trusler was baptised on 13 March 1774 in West Grinstead.

    He married Elizabeth Burtenshaw on 11 June 1802 in Woodmancote, Sussex.  He was then a bachelor of Cowfold and she a spinster.  The witnesses to the marriage were Richard Hoadley (Thomas's uncle by marriage) and Thomas Patching.

 

Thomas Holden and Elizabeth Snashall had 2 known children:

  1. Charles Holden was baptised on 2 July 1786 in Woodmancote.

  2. Ann Holden was baptised on 23 November 1788 in Woodmancote.
