William TRIGWELL (1729-1802)

and Mary SMITH (c1735-1813)

William Trigwell and Mary Smith married by licence on 16 October 1755 in Framfield, Sussex.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

William Trigwell was baptised on 19 January 1728/9 in Ringmer, Sussex.  He was the son of Joseph Trigwell (c1695-1730) and Elizabeth Cornwall (1697-1733).  He was buried in September 1802 in Ringmer.

Mary Smith's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She died in 1813.

William Trigwell and Mary Smith had 7 known children:

  1. Sarah Trigwell was baptised on 9 January 1757 in Ringmer and buried there on 2 February 1757.

  2. William Trigwell was baptised on 10 September 1758 in Ringmer.  He may have died before 1789.

A marriage licence was issued on 7 March 1777 by the Archdeaconry of Lewes in respect of William Trigwell the younger, a bachelor of Ringmer, and Elizabeth Markwick a spinster of the same place.

William and Elizabeth had the following children:

    1. Fanny Trigwell was baptised on 26 October 1777 in Ringmer and buried there on 14 February 1781.

    2. James Trigwell was baptised on 24 June 1781 in Ringmer.

  3. John Trigwell was baptised on 1 January 1762 in Ringmer.

  4. Frances Trigwell was baptised on 4 August 1765 in Ringmer.

A Frances Trigwell married John Hunter by banns on 13 October 1807 in Patcham.  They were both of Patcham.

  5. Joseph Trigwell was baptised on 20 March 1768 in Ringmer.  He may have married Mary.

  6. John Trigwell was baptised on 20 May 1770 in Ringmer.

  7. Isaac Trigwell was baptised on 22 August 1773 in Ringmer.  He married Elizabeth Clarke in 1796.  (They have their own page.)
