John TRIGWELL
(1798-?)
and Caroline TOWNER (1800-?)

John Trigwell and Caroline Towner married on 26
December 1818 in Ringmer, Sussex. (They were not my direct ancestors.)
John
Trigwell was baptised on 3 June 1798 in
Ringmer, Sussex. He was the son of
Isaac Trigwell
(1773-1838) and Elizabeth
Clarke (1773-1828).
Caroline Towner was
baptised on 10 January 1800 in Barcombe, Sussex. She was the daughter of
William Towner (1783-?) and Phoebe White.
John Trigwell
and Caroline Towner had 2 known children:

Leonard Trigwell was baptised on 26 December 1819 in
Ringmer. He died in 1858. (I have taken some details
about his family from a database found at Ancestry.co.uk owned by
rwstoker.)
Leonard
married Charlotte Blaber on 7 February 1841 in
Ringmer.
Charlotte was
baptised on 5 November 1815 in Ringmer and was the daughter of James Blaber
and Ann. She died or was buried on 31 May 1887 in
Ringmer.
In 1851 the
couple and 5 children were living in Ringmer. Leonard was then
a 30 year old farm labourer and Charlotte was 34.
Leonard and
Charlotte had the following children:

Anna Maria Trigwell was baptised on 22 August 1841 in Ringmer.
She was a 9 year old scholar in 1851 and the census recorded her
name as Hannah Trigwell.

Albert Trigwell was
baptised on 24 July 1842 in Ringmer.
He was an 8 year old scholar in 1851.

Caroline Trigwell was baptised
on 27 April 1845 in
Malling. She was a 6 year old scholar in 1851.

Leonard Trigwell was
baptised on 31 October 1847 in Rinmer.
He was 3 years old in 1851.

Sarah Trigwell was
baptised on 17 June 1849 in Ringmer.
She was 2 years old in 1851.

George Trigwell was baptised on 6 July 1851 in Ringmer.
-
James Trigwell
was baptised on 24 January 1853 in Ringmer. He died on 9 April
1914 in Yalding, Kent.
James
married Martha Brinkhurst on 1 January 1873.
Martha was
baptised on 8 December 1849 in Framfield, Sussex.
In 1881 the
couple and 3 children were living at 13 Rose Street in Tonbridge.
James was then a 27 year old railway guard and Martha was 30.
He gave his place of birth as Ringmer and she as Framfield.
Also with the family was 22 year old unmarried boarder,
Alfred J. Huggins.
James and
Martha had the following children:

Henry James Trigwell was baptised on 7
September 1874 in Staplehurst, Kent. In 1881 he was a 6
year old scholar.

Stanley James Trigwell
Stan
Trigwell and his father were the signalmen at
Knockholt Station (used to be called Halstead), they were
known as Trigwell Senior and Trigwell Junior - the Railway
Children story emanated from here. The picture is of
Stan in the Knockholt football (please click on it for a
larger view). Stan and his wife are buried in
Knockholt graveyard. (My thanks to Peter

Barbara Audrey Trigwell

Caroline Lillie Trigwell was born about 1876 in
Staplehurst. She died in 1942. The 1881 census
records her name as Lillie Trigwell and she was
a 4 year old scholar. She married
Henry Vinten.

Leonard Ernest Trigwell was born on 31 July
1879 in Tonbridge, Kent. The 1881 census records his name
as Ernest Trigwell and he was a year old.
He died on 11 April 1957 in Keymer, Sussex.
Leonard married Annie Laura Wenborn.

Frank Alexander Trigwell was baptised on 23
September 1881 in Tonbridge.

Joseph Trigwell
was baptised on 4 May 1857 in Ringmer. He died in 1937.
