Thomas TOWN (1772-1843)

and Jane LANGLEY (c1775-?)

 

Thomas Town and Jane Langley married by banns on 28 September 1794 in Coombes, Sussex.  They were both then of Coombes.  (They were not my direct ancestors.  Thomas was the great nephew of my 7x great grandmother, Elizabeth Cook.)

Thomas Town was baptised on 26 April 1772 in Steyning, Sussex.  He was the son of Thomas Town (1737-?) and Sarah Short.  He was buried on 17 February 1843 in Steyning.

Jane Langley's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

 

 Thomas Town and Jane Langley had 14 known children:

  1. William Town was baptised on 5 February 1797 in Coombes, Sussex.  He died/buried on 23 January 1882.

    William married Elizabeth Langford by banns on 10 May 1818 in Brighton, Sussex.  He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were both of Brighton.

    Elizabeth was born about 1797 and died/buried in May 1879.

    William and Elizabeth had 9 known children:

    1. Elizabeth Town was baptised on 11 April 1819 in Steyning.

    2. Jane Town was baptised on 15 July 1821 in Steyning.  She married Robert Emery on 21 November 1841.  He was born about 1816.

    3. Mary Ann Town was baptised on 11 July 1824 in Steyning.

    4. Susan Town was baptised on 1 January 1826 in Steyning.

    5. Anne Town was baptised on 15 June 1828 in Steyning.

    6. William Town was baptised on 15 August 1830 in Steyning.

    7. Thomas Town was baptised on 1 December 1832 in Steyning.  He died/buried on 27 September 1833.

    8. Adelaide Town was baptised on 9 November 1834 in Steyning.

    9. Charles Town was baptised on 5 may 1837 in Steyning.

  2. Thomas Town was baptised on 28 May 1798 in Coombes.  He died/buried on 1 January 1859.

  3. Jane Town was baptised on 7 December 1800 in Steyning.  She may have married Charles Quinn on 19 December 1818 in Steyning.

  4. Frances Town was baptised on 5 December 1802 in Steyning.

    Frances married George Knight on 7 July 1823 in Steyning.  He was then of Lancing, Sussex.

  5. Ann Town was baptised on 23 September 1804 in Steyning.

  6. Susannah Town was baptised on 1 June 1806 in Steyning.

  7. Elizabeth Town was baptised on 24 January 1808 in Steyning.

    Elizabeth married William Goddard on 30 November 1830 in Steyning.

  8. Henry Town was baptised on 25 December 1809 in Steyning.  He married Harriet Daughtry in 1831.  (They have their own page.)

  9. John Town was baptised on 14 April 1811 in Steyning.

  10. James Town was baptised on 21 February 1813 in Steyning.

  11. Charles Town was baptised on 30 April 1815 in Steyning.  He may have married Rhoda Bridger on 27 May 1837 in Steyning.  She was then of Storrington.

  12. Barbara Town was baptised on 13 July 1817 in Steyning.  She may have married William Breach on 16 September 1835 in Steyning.  He was then a widower.

  13. James Town was baptised on 14 December 1821 in Steyning.

  14. John Town was baptised on 14 December 1821 in Steyning.
