William TOURLE (c1610-?)

and Sarah SIXWORTH (1607-?)

William Tourle and Sarah Sixworth were my 10x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on 2 June 1634 in Eastbourne, Sussex.  At the time he was William Toyrle, junior.  William may have previously married Constance Weston on 14 June 1631 in Eastbourne.

William Tourle's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  He was most probably the son of William Tourle.  Might his father have been baptised on 20 December 1573 in Eastbourne and have been the son of Thomas Tourle?  A William Tourle of Eastbourne left a will dated 5 June 1634 (ref. Lewes 146-195), and was buried on 8 June 1634 in Eastbourne as William Toyrle, senior.

Constance Weston's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She may have been buried as Constance Tourle on 6 April 1631/2 in Eastbourne.

Sarah Sixworth was baptised on 7 June 1607 in Eastbourne.  She was the daughter of Joseph Sixworth (?-1609).  Her mother probably died as an unnamed widow in 1617.  As widow Torle she may have been buried on 30 January 1675 in Folkington, Sussex, which is where her daughter Hannah was then living.

William Tourle and Sarah Sixworth had 2 known children and possibly more:

  1. William Tourle was baptised on 13 July 1634 in Chiddingly, Sussex.

  2. Hannah Tourle, my 9x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 23 December 1638 in Chiddingly.  She married Henry Beck in 1657.  (They have their own page.)  However, there was a Hannah Tourle who was buried on 26 April 1640 in Chiddingly.

  3. Thomas Tourle may have been part of this family.

Thomas married and had the following daughter:

    1. Ann Tourle was baptised on 3 July 1664 in Chiddingly.
