John TICEHURST (c1600-?)

and Elizabeth MATHEW (1600-?)

 

John Ticehurst and Elizabeth Mathew may have been my 10x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on 11 June 1627 in Dallington, Sussex.

John Ticehurst's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  He may have been the son of John Ticehurst (c1575-1649) and possibly Elizabeth Braie.  From 1652 until at least 1656 he was of Batchelors in Ashburnham.

Elizabeth Mathew may have been baptised on 7 February 1599/1600 in Dallington, Sussex and have been the daughter of Martine Mathewe.

 

John Ticehurst and Elizabeth Mathew had 5 known children:

  1. Elizabeth Ticehurst was baptised on 30 March 1628/9 in Ashburnham.  Only her father's name was recorded in the baptism register and he was described as "the youngest".

  2. John Ticehurst, my 9x Great Grandfather, was baptised on 7 February 1629/30 in Ashburnham.  Only his father was recorded in the baptism register and he was of Barnland.  John married Ann Durrent in 1665.  (They have their own page.)

  3. Elizabeth Tisehurst was baptised on 17 March 1632/3 in Ashburnham.  Only her father's name was recorded in the baptism register and he was described as junior.  She may have married Ezekiel Morris on 6 April 1657 in Cranbrook, Kent.  At the time she was a spinster of Cranbrook and was said to be the daughter of John Ticehurst a forgeman of Ashburnham.  He was a husbandman of Cranbrook and the son of Richard Morris a husbandman of Cranbrook.

  4. Robert Tisehurst was baptised on 8 April 1638 in Ashburnham.  Both his parents were named in the baptism register and his father was then described as junior.  Robert may have been buried on 12 July 1674 in Ashburnham.

    Robert married Ann Katchloe on 23 August 1664 in Ashburnham.

    Robert and Ann had the following children:

    1. John Ticehurst was baptised on 9 November 1665 in Ashburnham.

    2. Abraham Tishurst was baptised on 12 May 1669 in Ashburnham.

    3. Samuel Ticehurst was baptised on 23 March 1672/3 in Ashburnham.

  5. Eleanor Tisehurst was baptised on 22 December 1641 in Ashburnham.  Both her parents were named in the baptism register and they were of Barneland in Ashburnham.
