Benjamin THORPE
(1707-1781)
and Anna SANSUM (1707-1778)

Benjamin Thorpe
and Anna Sansum married by licence on 6 September 1731 at St.
Clements in Hastings, Sussex. They were both then of Chiddingly,
Sussex. (They were not my direct ancestors. Benjamin was the
brother of my 7x great grandfather, Thomas Thorpe.)
Benjamin Thorpe
was baptised on 7 November 1707 in Maresfield, Sussex. He was the son
of Richard
Thorpe (1670-1742) and
Elizabeth Clark
(c1674-1761). He died of Small Pox and was buried on 23 July 1781 in
Chiddingly.
Anna Sansum
was baptised on 16 September 1707 in Arlington, Sussex. She was the
daughter of William Sansum and Susanna Marchant. She
died and was buried in Chiddingly in 1778.
Benjamin Thorpe and Ann
Sansum had 8 known children:

John Tharp was baptised privately on 19 April 1732 in Chiddingly.

William Thorp was baptised on 8 April 1725 in Chiddingly and buried
there on 19 February 1735/6.

Elizabeth Thorp was baptised on 2 March 1737/8 in Chiddingly.

Benjamin Thorp was baptised on 27 Mary 1740 in Chiddingly. He
was buried there on 28 March 1771 and the burial register records that he
was the son of Benjamin Thorp.

Jane Thorp was baptised on 16 May 1744 in Chiddingly and buried
there on 23 August 1767.

Mary Thorp was baptised on 7 March 1745/6 in Chiddingly and buried
there on 16 April 1746.

William Thorp was baptised on 4 October
1747 in Chiddingly. He married twice, firstly to
Mary
Funnell in 1772 and then to
Ann Barrow in
1784. (They have their own page.)

Thomas Thorp was baptised on 12 January 1749/50 in Chiddingly and
buried there on 11 August 1751.
