Ralph THORNS
(1764-1835)
and Sarah HILL
(c1769-1835)

Ralph Thorns and Sarah Hill
may have been my 5x Great Grandparents.
(Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.) They married by
banns
on 11 September 1790 in Warnham, Sussex. At the time he was a bachelor
and she a spinster, and they were both of Warnham. The witnesses to
their marriage were Ann Frances Reily and John
Steere.
Ralph Thorns was baptised on 18
November 1764 in Warnham, Sussex. He was the son of
Ralph
Thorns (1735-1817) and
Martha Longhurst (1737-1812). He died aged 70 years and was
buried on 11 January 1835 in Warnham.
Sarah Hill's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
She died aged 66 years in Friday Street and was buried on 22 December 1835
in Warnham.

and Sarah Hill
had 6 known children and possibly 2 more:

Great Grandmother, was baptised on 31 October 1790 in
Warnham. She married
William Parsons in 1812. (They have their own page.)

Sarah Thomas was baptised on 12 August 1792 in Warnham.

Daniel Greenfield
in 1815. (They have their own page.)

John Thorns may have been part of this family. He
was buried on 8 October 1793 in Warnham. The burial register noted
that he was a child.

Diana Thorns may have been part of this family. She
was buried on 29 July 1795 in Warnham and it was noted in the burial
register that she was a child.

Daniel Thorns was baptised on 24 July 1796 in Warnham.
A transcript of the baptism register noted that he was the son of Ralph
and Mary. He died aged 44 years in Little London and was buried on
11 April 1851 in Warnham.
Daniel married Ann Figg on by banns on 26 February
1816 in Horsham. They were both minors at the time and were both of
Horsham. The witnesses to their marriage were G.
Angus and Thomas Evershed.
Ann was baptised on 23 October 1796 in Horsham and was the illegitimate
daughter of Ann Figg. She died aged 54 years in Little London and was buried on 5 March 1848 in Warnham.
Daniel and Ann had the following children:

Daniel Thorns was baptised on 16 March 1817 in Warnham, at which
time his father was a labourer. He died aged 22 in Little London and was
buried on 30 April 1839 in Warnham.

George Thorns was baptised on 7 March 1819 in Warnham.
He died aged 25 years in the village and was buried on 11 February 1844
in Warnham.
George married Charlotte Charman by banns on 9 October
1841 in Warnham. He was a bachelor and sawyer and she was a
spinster. Their fathers were named as Daniel Thorns
a sawyer and William Charman a labourer. The
witnesses to their marriage were Richard Charman and
Ann Charman.
As a 41 year old widow, Charlotte Thorns married
Michael Stemp by banns on 30 January 1862 in Warnham. He
was then a 28 year old bachelor and labourer. Their fathers were
named as John Stemp and William Charman
who were both labourers. The witnesses to their marriage were
George Stemp and Ann Charman.

Henry Thorns was baptised on 15 June 1821 in Warnham.

William Thorns was baptised on 28 September 1823 in
Warnham.

Michael Thorns was baptised on 18 December 1825 and 5
February 1826 in Warnham.

Salome Thorns was baptised on 17 February 1828 in Warnham.
Salome married James Jeal by banns on 13 September 1848
in Warnham. He was a bachelor and labourer and she was a spinster.
Their fathers were named as James Jeal a labourer and
Daniel Thorns a sawyer. The witnesses to their
marriage were Michael Jeal and Mary Jeal.

David Thorne was baptised on 1 January 1832 in Warnham.
He died aged 6 years in Little London and was buried on 6 October 1837
in Warnham.

Ann Thorns was baptised on 7 July 1833 in Warnham.

Phebe Thorn was baptisedon 1 March 1835 in Warnham.

Charles Thorns was baptised on 20 May 1838 in Warnham, at
which time his father was a sawyer.

Michael Thorns was baptised on 2 October 1803 in Warnham
and buried there on 22 May 1806. The baptism register noted that
he was a child.

Martha Thorns was baptised on 12 August 1810 in Warnham.
Martha
married George Hoad by banns on 2 November 1833 in Warnham.
He was then a bachelor from Wotton, Surrey and she a spinster. The
witnesses to their marriage were John Longhurst and
Mary Thorns.

Mary Thorns was baptised on 3 July 1814 in Warnham, at
which time her father was a labourer.
