My Tester Ancestors
A 5x Great Grandmother was
Mary
Tester who was born in Burwash, Sussex in 1747. She married
William Kitchenham (1750-1829) in Ticehurst, Sussex in 1777, and
they settled and raised their family in Wadhurst, Sussex. Mary was
also buried in Wadhurst in 1825. She was the daughter of
Edward
Tester and
Frances Monk who had married in Burwash in 1746.
The couple raised their family in Burwash, although Edward was born in
Framfield, Sussex in 1723. His father,
William Tester, was also
from Framfield as were the two preceding generations.
William Tester, who was born in 1702, married
Susanna Plaw in
1722 in East Hoathly, Sussex. The couple had 3 children, the first in
Framfield and the second two in Mayfield, Sussex. He was the son of
another William Tester was born 1675 in Framfield and buried there in
1726. I believe he married
Barbara Masiere in 1696, but I can
not be certain that they were the parents of the William born in 1702, as it
has been difficult to work out who was whom.
