Thomas SWIFT (1676-?)

and Mary BROOKE (?-?)

 

Thomas Swift and Mary Brooke married on 5 October 1697 in Rye, Sussex.  He was a bachelor of "Warehorn" and she a spinster of Rye.  (They were not my direct ancestors, but Thomas was probably the brother of my 7x Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Swift.)

Thomas Swift was probably baptised on 28 April 1676 in Salehurst, Sussex the son of John Swift (1646-1705) and Ann (?-1705).  However, there was another Thomas Swift baptised on 9 October 1672 in Wadhurst, Sussex, the son of Samuel Swift (1636-1710) and Sarah Plasted (1641-?).

Mary Brooke's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

 

Thomas Swift and Mary Brooke had 5 known children:

  1. Margaret Swift was baptised on 1 March 1703/4 in Rye.

  2. Thomas Swift was baptised on 23 October 1705 in Rye

  3. Benjamin Swift was baptised on 12 November 1709 in Rye

  4. Joseph Swift was baptised on 12 November 1709 in Rye

  5. Rachel Swift was baptised on 28 November 1711 in Rye.
