Richard STRINGER (1700-1780)

and Katherine JENNER (1710-1768)

 

Richard Stringer and Katherine Ginner married on 18 October 1730 in Itchingfield, Sussex.  He was then a sojourner of Shipley and she of Itchingfield.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Richard Stringer was baptised on 19 March 1699/1700 in Shipley, Sussex.  He was the son of Francis Stringer (c1670-1740) and Dorothy Gaston (c1670-1746).  He was buried on 17 September 1780 in West Grinstead, Sussex.

Katherine Jenner was baptised on 12 January 1709/10 in Horsham, Sussex.  She was the daughter of John Jenner and Mary (possibly Mary Washer who had married John Jener on 27 October 1696 in Horsham).  Catherine Stringer was buried on 12 February 1768 in West Grinstead.  She had a sister named Queen Jener who was baptised on 17 July 1718 in Horsham.

 

Richard Stringer and Katherine Jenner had 7 known children:

  1. Ann Stringer was baptised on 10 March 1731/2 in Horsham.  She married William Parsons in 1755.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Richard Stringer was born about 1736.  He was baptised at the age of 7 years on 24 April 1743 in West Grinstead.  A transcript of the baptism register records that his mother's name was Rachel.

    Richard married Sarah Reynolds by licence on 7 May 1763 in Shipley.  He was then of West Grinstead and she of Shipley.

    Richard and Sarah had the following children:

    1. John Stringer was baptised on 16 October 1763 in West Grinstead.

    2. Sarah Stringer was baptised on 18 February 1766 in West Grinstead.

    3. Hannah Stringer was baptised 5 January 1770 in West Grinstead.

    4. Richard Stringer was baptised on 20 December 1771 in West Grinstead.  (A transcript of the baptism register records his mother's name as Ann.)  He may have died aged 50 years in Henfield and have been buried on 22 May 1822 in West Grinstead.

    5. Ann Stringer was baptised on 31 July 1773 in West Grinstead.

    6. James Stringer was baptised on 6 October 1775 in West Grinstead.

    7. Mary Stringer was baptised on 12 March 1780 in West Grinstead.

    8. Catherine Stringer was baptised on 13 June 1782 in West Grinstead.  On 4 May 1801 she was a witness to the marriage of Richard Stringer and Ann Beeching.

      Catherine married Samuel Beerman by banns on 26 December 1802 in West Grinstead.  The witnesses to their marriage were William Stringer and William Gratwick.

    9. William Stringer was baptised on 26 November 1784 in West Grinstead.

  3. Queen Stringer was baptised on 20 August 1737 in West Grinstead.  The transcript of the baptism register does not record her mother's name.  Queen married Peter Lilliot in 1759.  (They have their own page.)

  4. John Stringer was baptised on 21 March 1741 in West Grinstead.  A transcript of the baptism register records that his mother's name was Rachel.  He died in 1817 in Shipley.

  5. Mary Stringer was baptised on 24 April 1743 in West Grinstead.  A transcript of the baptism register records the her mother's name was Lucy.

  6. Jenner Stringer was baptised on 19 February 1746 in West Grinstead.  A transcript of the baptism register records that his mother's name was Queen.  He married Sarah Newman in 1768.  (They have their own page.)

  7. Katherine Stringer was baptised on 23 February 1749 in West Grinstead.  A transcript of the baptism register records that her mother's name was Queen.

    Katherine married James Osborne by banns on 1 April 1777 in Shipley.  He was then of West Grinstead and she of Shipley.

    James and Katherine had the following children:

    1. Caleb Osborne was baptised on 15 March 1778 in Shipley.

    2. Ann Osborne was baptised on 16 January 1780 in West Grinstead.

    3. James Osborne was baptised on 13 March 1785 in West Grinstead.
