Their marriage licence was issued on 30 July 1799
by the Archdeaconry of Chichester. It recorded that he was a 28
year old bachelor and labourer of West Grinstead. Frances was a
minor and married with the consent of Thomas Cherryman who was a
labourer.
Frances was baptised on 20 May 1781 in West Grinstead and was the
daughter of Thomas Cherryman and Frances Fiest. She
died aged 46 years and was buried on 20 April 1828 in West Grinstead.

Ann Beeching by banns on 4 May 1801 in West
Grinstead. He was then a bachelor and she a spinster and they were
both of West Grinstead. The witnesses to their marriage were
John Stringer and
Catherine Stringer.

Harriet married John Muzzall by banns on 28
December 1829 in Henfield. She was a spinster and he a
bachelor and they were both of Henfield.
At the time of the 1841 census the family were living at Catsfold in
Henfield. Also with them on census night were Anne
Bristow a 60 year old nurse, 17 year old servant
Elizabeth Elliott, 25 year old servant
Samuel
Stelaway (my 3x great grandfather) and 15 year old
servant Francis Nye. When
the 1851 census was recorded the couple and 8 children were living
at Catsfold. John was then a 47 year old farmer of 112 acres
and employing 5 labourers. Harriet was 46 years old.
Also with them on census night was unmarried 22 year old
agricultural labourer and servant, Isaiah Mansell.
John and Harriet had the following children:

Mary Muzzall was born about 1830 in Henfield.
In 1841 she was 10 years old. She was an unmarried 20 year
old in 1851 and living at home.

Sarah Ann Muzzall was baptised on 22 January
1832 in Henfield. In 1841 she was 9 years old. She
married Thomas Warden on 30 June 1857 in Henfield.
Thomas was baptised on 5 January 1834 in Henfield and was the
son of
Thomas Warden (c1792-18670 and
Mary Ann Dowlen (c1797-1871).

Rebecca Muzzall was baptised on 31 March 1833
in Henfield. In 1841 she was 8 years old. She was 18
years old in 1851 and living at home.

John Muzzall was born about 1835. He was
6 years old at the time of the 1841 census.

Isaac Muzzall was born about 1836 in Henfield.
In 1841 he was 5 years old. He was 15 years old in 1851
and living at home.

Eliza Muzzall was born about 1838 in Henfield.
In 1841 she was 3 years old. She was a 13 year old scholar
in 1851.

Ann Muzzall was born about 1840 in Henfield.
In 1841 she was a year old. She was an 11 year old scholar
in 1851. Ann married the famous taxidermist Mr.

The 1841 census records that an unnamed son was 2 weeks old.
He was a 9 year old scholar in 1851.

Henfield. She was 3 years old in 1851.

Edward married Zilpah Venn by banns on 23 October 1805
in West Grinstead. The witnesses to their marriage were
William Stringer and Sarah Stringer.
Zilpah died aged 56 years and was buried on 17 January 1841 in West
Grinstead, therefore, she was born about 1785.

Lucy married Thomas Smith by banns on 15 August 1811 in
Ashurst. She was then a spinster of West Grinstead and he a
bachelor of Ashurst. The witnesses to their marriage were
William Baytopp and Charlotte Stringer.
Thomas may have died aged 82 years in Brighton and have been buried on
22 October 1865 in West Grinstead, therefore, born about 1783.

Mary married
Nicholas West by banns on 9 April 1842 in Horsham.
He was a bachelor and labourer and she a spinster. Their

their marriage were James Kempshall and
Eliza Smith.
