James
Streeter and Sarah Pratt married by banns on 21
October 1833 in Rotherfield, Sussex. He was a bachelor and she a
spinster and they were both of Rotherfield. The witnesses to their
marriage were James Rogers and Mary Streeter.
(They were not my direct ancestors.)
James
Streeter was born on 1 September 1811 and baptised on 20 October
1811 in Groombridge, Sussex. He was the son of
Thomas Streeter
(1768-?) and
Mary Reed. His death may have been registered in
the fourth quarter of 1854 in the Uckfield registration district.
Sarah Pratt
was baptised on 28 August 1814 in Rotherfield. She was the daughter of
David Pratt (1793-?) and Sarah Card.
The 1841 census
recorded that 36 year old Sarah Streeter was living in
Crowborough with her 3 children (Sarah, Samuel and James). She was
then described as an agricultural labourer.
When the 1851
census was recorded, James and Sarah were living at Holly Bridge in
Rotherfield along with 5 children (Sarah, Samuel, George, Mark and David).
He was then a 40 year old agricultural labourer and she was 37. Also
with them was 42 year old unmarried lodger and Chelsea Pensioner,
William Streeter. All were born in Rotherfield.

Streeter she married

Streeter was born about 1837 in Rotherfield. He was 4
years old in 1841. In 1851 he was a 14 year old agricultural
labourer.

Streeter was born on 9 November 1838 and baptised on 16
December 1838 in Rotherfield. He was 2 years old in 1841.

George
Streeter was born about 1844 in Rotherfield. He was a 7
year old scholar in 1851. In 1861 he was a 17 year old
agricultural labourer and lodging in the home of 28 year old
George Pratt Friars Gate in Withyham.

Mark
Streeter was born about 1846/7 in Rotherfield and baptised on
27 April 1862 in Withyham. He was 5 years old in 1851. In
1861 he was a 14 year old servant and living in the home of his uncle
George Pratt at Friars Gate in Withyham.

David
Streeter was born about 1849 in Rotherfield and baptised on 27
April 1862 in Withyham. He was 2 years old in 1851. In 1861
he was an 11 year old servant in the home of 38 year old Moses
Pratt at the grocers shop in Withyham - Moses was David's
uncle.

Naomi Streeter was born about 1855
in Withyham. In 1861 she was 5 years old and living in the home of
her uncle
Richard Mankelow at Sheep plain in Rotherfield. When
the 1871 census was recorded she was 16 years old and living in the home
of her brother-in-law
