Thomas STONER (1720-?)
and Ann WHITE (?-1771)

Thomas Stoner and Ann White married on 30
November 1751 in Henfield, Sussex.
(They were not my direct ancestors.)
Thomas Stoner was baptised on 27 January 1719/20
in Cowfold, Sussex. He was the son of
William Stoner
(1690-1767) and
Anne Gratwick
(c1695-1773).
Ann White's date and place of birth/baptism are
unknown, to me. Anne wife of Thomas Stoner was
buried on 28 July 1771 in Cowfold.
Thomas Stoner and Ann
White had 7 known children:
-
Henry Stoner
was baptised on 22 April 1753 in Cowfold. He most probably married
Phebe Roberts
in 1774. (They have their own page.)
-
Ann Stoner was baptised on 7 September 1755 in Cowfold.
Ann most probably married Isaac Mitchel by banns on 28
February 1775 in Cowfold. He was a bachelor and she a spinster.
The witnesses to their marriage were William Stenning
and Walter Hills.
-
Thomas Stoner was baptised on 23 October 1757 in
Cowfold.
Thomas may have married Hannah Davy by licence on 27
March 1788 in Horsham. He was then of Horsham and she of Nuthurst.
Thomas and Hannah had the following children:
-
Richard Stoner was born on 2 May 1789 and his birth
was registered at the General Baptist Chapel in Horsham.
-
Ann Stoner was born on 1
July 1791 and her birth was registered at the General Baptist Chapel
in Horsham. She was then baptised on 14 October 1810 in
Nuthurst.
Ann may have married Arthur Wadey by banns on 4
June 1811 in Horsham. She was a spinster and he a bachelor and
they were both of Horsham. The witnesses to their marriage
were Richard Wadey and Lanham Thomas.
Or she may have married William Mitchell by banns
on 1 July 1812 in Horsham. Ann was a spinster and William a
bachelor and they were both of Horsham. The witnesses to their
marriage were Francis Mitchell and Ann
Mitchell.
Another
Ann Stoner
was born in 1791.
-
Hannah Stoner was born on 3 February 1795 and her
birth was registered at the General Baptist Chapel in Horsham.
She was then baptised on 14 October 1810 in Nuthurst.
-
Mary Stoner was baptised on 17 February 1760 in Cowfold.
-
Elizabeth Stoner was baptised on 5 June 1763 in Cowfold.
Elizabeth may have married William Gibson on
6 April 1785 in Cuckfield, Sussex.
Another
Elizabeth
Stoner was born in 1766 in Cowfold, but I think she married
Benjamin Terry in 1791.
William and Elizabeth had 1 known daughter:
-
Sarah Gibson
was baptised on 4 March 1787 in Cuckfield. She married
John Stoner in
1804. (They have their own page.) John was the son of
Henry Stoner and Phoebe Roberts,
and Henry was the elder brother of Elizabeth.
-
Sarah Stoner was baptised on 17 November 1765 in
Cowfold. Might she have married William Westgate
by banns on 6 November 1789 in Slaugham, Sussex? They were both
then of Slaugham. The witnesses to the marriage were
Thomas Stoner and John Lindfield.
-
Philip Stoner was baptised on 13 March 1768 in Cowfold.
He married Frances Martin
in 1786. (They have their own page.)
