I had thought the following Thomas was the one born in 1783, as above.

A Thomas Stoner married Martha Smith by banns on 14 April 1811 in Slaugham.  They were both of Slaugham.  The witnesses to their marriage were Edward Stoner and Louisa Stoner.

Thomas and Martha had the following children:

On 15 April 1826 a removal order was issued to Thomas and his wife Sophia and children 14 year Martha and 10 year old Thomas, removing them from Beeding to Cowfold (or vice versa).

As a widower, Thomas may have married Sophia Puttick by banns on 17 July 1825 in Cowfold.  She was a spinster.  The witnesses to their marriage were John Stoner and William Hill.

Thomas and Sophia had the following children:

  1. Charles Stoner was baptised on 20 March 1826 in Cowfold.  The baptism register noted that Thomas was a sawyer.  He died aged 6 weeks and was buried on 25 March 1826 in Cowfold.  The burial register noted that he was the son of Thomas.

  2. Harriet Stoner was baptised on 10 June 1827 in Cowfold, at which time her father was a sawyer from Slaugham.

  3. Daniel Stoner was baptised on 23 May 1830 in Slaugham.

A Thomas Stoner died aged 80 years (as per the burial register) and was buried on 12 January 1862 in Cowfold.  However, another Thomas Stoner was baptised on 11 January 1784 in Shermanbury, the son of Robert Stoner and Mary Stenning.  In 1851 Shermanbury Thomas was living in Cowfold with his wife Sarah.  In 1861, Shermanbury born Thomas was an 80 year old widower living in Cowfold.
