Henry STONER (1733-?)
and Elizabeth STONE (?-?)

Henry Stoner and Elizabeth Stone married
on 8 April 1761 in Upper Beeding, Sussex.
(They were not my direct ancestors.)
Harry Stoner was baptised on 12 April 1733 in Cowfold,
Sussex. He was the son of
William Stoner
(1690-1767) and
Anne Gratwick
(c1695-1773).
Elizabeth Stone's date and place of birth/baptism are
unknown, to me. Might she have been baptised on 26 October 1736 in
Nuthurst, Sussex and have been the daughter of John Stone
and Ann?
Henry Stoner and Elizabeth
Stone had 3 known children:
-
William Stoner was baptised on 3 September 1763 in
Cowfold and buried there on 4 September 1763. The burial register
noted that he was the son of Henry and Elizabeth.
-
Elizabeth Stoner was baptised on 16 March 1766 in Cowfold.
She may have been buried on 9 April 1795 in Shermanbury as
Elizabeth wife of Benjamin Terry.
Elizabeth may have married Benjamin Terry
on 24 February 1791 in Shermanbury, Sussex. Benjamin was a bachelor of Twineham and Elizabeth was a spinster of Shermanbury.
Another
Elizabeth
Stoner was born in 1763 in Cowfold, but I think she married
William Gibson in 1785.
Benjamin and Elizabeth had 2 known children:
-
James Terry was baptised on 7 August 1791 in
Shermanbury. The baptism register noted that his parents paid
the 3d. baptism fee.
-
Sarah Terry was baptised on 30 March 1794 in
Shermanbury. The baptism register noted that her parents paid
the 3d. baptism fee.
As a widower, Benjamin Terry married widow
Ann
Lelliett by banns on 14 April 1805 in Shermanbury.
They were both of Shermanbury and both made their marks in the register.
The witnesses to their marriage were James Hards and
Thomas Jupp. Previously as Ann Penfold
she had married
Richard Lilliot
on 8 April 1777 in Ashurst, Sussex.
-
Hannah Stoner was baptised on 22 November 1767 in
Cowfold.
Did Henry and Elizabeth also have a son named
Thomas Stoner who
married Barbara Buckwell
in 1796? Thomas was born about 1769/70.
