Henry STONEHAM (c1670-?)

and Elizabeth DUGEN (c1670-?)

 

Henery Stonham and Elizabeth Uptaine, widow,  married on 25 February 1695/6 in Brede, Sussex.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)  Previously as Elizabeth Dugen she had married Thomas Uptaine on 2 April 1689 in Brede.

Henry Stoneham's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Might he have been the son of Henry Stonham and Elizabeth Lavender who married in 1668 in Westfield, Sussex?

Elizabeth Duggen may have been baptised on 26 November 1661 in Brede and have been the daughter of William Duggen and possibly Ellen.

Thomas Uptaine was buried on 23 February 1694/5 in Brede.

 

Henry Stoneham and Elizabeth Duggen had 4 known children:

  1. Henry Stoneham was baptised on 7 February 1696/7 in Brede.  He married Elizabeth Fuller in 1725.  (They have their own page.)

  2. John Stoneham was born on 9 August and baptised on 13 August 1699 in Brede.  He may have married Ann Barnes on 14 October 1731 in Brede.

  3. Sarah Stoneham was born on 12 September and baptised on 20 September 1702 in Brede.  At the time of her baptism her father was a labourer.

  4. James Stoneham was born on 14 September and baptised on 26 September 1703 in Brede.  At the time of his baptism his father was described as a poor labourer.  He may have married Ann Hall on 27 September 1732 in Iden.

 

Thomas Uptaine and Elizabeth Duggen had 1 known daughter:

  1. Elizabeth Uptaine was baptised on 18 October 1691 in Brede.  As Elizabeth Upton of Brede, she may have married Thomas Jarratt on 20 May 1716 in Penhurst, Sussex.
