Richard Stillaway and Jane Batchelor married in 1864.  (They were not my direct ancestors.  Richard was the nephew William Stillaway (1774-1818) who was most probably my 4x great grandfather.)

Richard Stillaway was baptised on 13 August 1837 in Henfield, Sussex.  He was the son of George Stillaway (1789-1871) and Sarah Barnett (1791-1839).  He died aged 81 years and his death was registered in the fourth quarter of 1915 in the Steyning registration district.  When the 1841 census was recorded he was living at home with his widower father and elder siblings.  At the time of the 1851 census Richard was a 14 year old agricultural labourer and he and his father were lodging in the home of Philip Allfrey at Wood House in Henfield.  In 1861 he was an unmarried 23 year old agricultural labourer living at home with his father at Knep Town (Neptown) in Henfield.
