John STEDMAN (1571-?)

and Thomsen ELLIS (?-?)

 

John Stedman and Thomsen Ellis married on 26 November 1592 in Bolney, Sussex.

John Stedman was baptised on 28 January 1570/1 in Bolney.  He was the son of Thomas Stedman.

Thomsen Ellis's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me. 

 

John Stedman and Thomsen Ellis may have had the following children:

  1. Richard Stedman may have been part of this family.  He was baptised on 10 April 1593 in Bolney, but neither of his parents were named in the baptism register.  He may have married Joan Bartley in 1628.  (They have their own page.)

  2. John Stedman may have been part of this family.  He was baptised on 30 January 1594/5 in Bolney, but neither of his parents were named in the baptism register.  He may have been buried on 1 February 1694/5 in Bolney, but only his name was recorded in the burial register.

  3. Sara Stedman may have been part of this family.  She was baptised on 21 March 1595/6 in Bolney, but neither of her parents were named in the baptism register.  She may have married John Budging on 3 June 1621 in Cuckfield.

  4. Joan Stedman may have been part of this family.  She married Ananias Harland by licence on 3 July 1621 at All Saints in Lewes, Sussex.  Their marriage licence was issued on 30 July 1621 (as per the Sussex marriage index) by the Archdeaconry of Lewes.  It recorded that Joan was a spinster and Ananias a bricklayer and they were both of Bolney.

  5. Jane Stidman  may have been part of this family.  She was baptised on 24 July 1603 in Bolney, but neither of her parents were named in the baptism register.Bolney

  6. Thomas Stidman was baptised on 17 March 1604/5 in Bolney.  Neither of his parents were named in the baptism register.  He was buried on 16 June 1605 in Bolney and the burial register noted that he was the son of John Stidman

  7. William Stedman was baptised on 18 May 1606 in Bolney.  The baptism register recorded that he was the son of John.  He married Ann Jenner in 1636.  (They have their own page.)

  8. Ane Stedman was baptised on 13 May 1610 in Bolney.  The baptism register recorded that she was the daughter of John.  Ann had an illegitimate child:

    1. Grover Stedman was baptised on 18 July 1641 in Bolney.  His/her reputed father was named as Edward GroverGrover Stedman was buried on 14 July 1668 in Bolney.
