Thomas SNASHALL (1727-1805)

and Ann NORMAN (1723-1804)


Thomas Snashall and Ann Norman were my 5x Great Grandparents, via their youngest daughter.  (Click here to see their place in my pedigree chart.)  They may also have been my 7x Great Grandparents, via their eldest daughter.  (Click here to see their possible place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on 4 November 1745 in Henfield, Sussex.

Thomas Snashall was baptised on 14 July 1727 in Shermanbury, Sussex.  He was the son of 5 143 John Snashall (1690-1740) and 5 143 Elizabeth Barden (c1700-1764).  Thomas was buried on 9 May 1805 in Henfield.

Ann Norman was born on 1 September and baptised on 11 September 1723 in Henfield.  She was the daughter of 5 144 John Norman (1698-1762) and 5 144 Susan Richardson (1699-1762).  Ann was buried on 10 April 1804 in Henfield.


Thomas Snashall and Ann Norman had 7 known children:

  1. Elizabeth Snashall, my possible my 6x Great Grandmother, was born on 14 May and baptised on 21 May 1746 in Henfield.  She married twice, firstly to John Trusler in 1769 and then to Thomas Holden in 1785.  (They have their own page.)

  2. Sarah Snashall was born on 2 April and baptised on 15 April 1748 in Henfield.  She may have had an illegitimate daughter:

    1. Ann Snashall was baptised on 8 January 1775 in West Grinstead.

    Sarah may have married Thomas Harling by licence on 25 July 1775 in Henfield.  Thomas was a bachelor and Sarah a spinster and they were both of Henfield.  Thomas signed his name, whilst Sarah made her X mark.  The witnesses were John Matthews (mark) and William Vinall (signed).

  3. Ann Snashall was born on 2 November and baptised on 9 November 1750 in Henfield.

  4. Susan Snashall was born on 30 July and baptised on 12 August 1753 in Henfield and buried there on 5 March 1754.

  5. John Snashall was born on 12 December and baptised on 26 December 1755 in Henfield.

  6. Mary Snashall was born on 17 July and baptised on 30 July 1758 in Henfield.

  7. 5 61 Hannah Snashall, my 4x Great Grandmother, was baptised on 3 July 1763 in Henfield.  She married Richard Hoadley in 1788.  (They have their own page.)
