Henry SNASHALL (1628-1685)

and Joane HAMMOND (?-?)

and Ann BORER (?-1696)

 

Henry Snashall married twice, firstly to Joane Hammond on 23 September 1652 in Leigh, Surrey.  He then married Ann Borer on 2 August 1677 in Walton on the Hill, Surrey.  (They were not my direct ancestors.)

Henry Snashall may have been baptised on 28 October 1628 in Slaugham, Sussex and have been the son of Richard Snashall and Jane.  Henry was a yeoman of Rusper when he made his will on 29 July 1685, in which he mentioned his son Henry a blacksmith of Crawley, wife Ann, son John, and friends and trustees Thomas Fordan of ?heath, Surrey and George Mills of Rusper.  (I have a copy of his will.)  His will was proved on 10 February 1685/6.  Henry was buried on 5 August 1685 in Rusper, Sussex. 

Joane Hammond's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.

Ann Borer's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  Ann Snashall, widow was buried on 12 December 1696 in Rusper.

Henry's eldest son became a Quaker, although Henry senior did not convert.

 

Henry Snashall and Joane Hammond had 1 known child:

  1. Henry Snashall was baptised on 23 June 1653 or on 23 January 1654 in Crawley (need to check original register).  He died on 24 March and was buried on 27 March 1694 at the Charlwood, Surrey Quakers Cemetery.  He left a will which was proved on 22 June 1694.

    Henry married Elizabeth Nye on 30 March 1687 at the Quaker Meeting in Ifield, Sussex.  He was then a blacksmith and they were both of Crawley.

    As a widow Elizabeth married John Hind of Reigate, Surrey on 26 March 1701 at the Ifield Quaker Meeting.

    Henry and Elizabeth had the following children:

    1. Henry Snashall was born on 23 January 1688 in Crawley.  He died on 12 February 1696/7 and was buried at the Charlwood Quaker Cemetery.

    2. Elizabeth Snashall was born on 20 December 1689 in Crawley.

    3. John Snashall was buried on 29 November 1691 at the Charlwood Quaker Cemetery.

    4. Mary Snashall was born on 21 March 1693 in Crawley.

Henry Snashall and Ann Borer had 2 known children:

  1. A child of Henry Snashall was buried on 15 July 1680 in Rusper.

  2. John Snashall was baptised on 19 October 1683 in Rusper.  He was buried on 1 July 1686 in Rusper as the son of Ann Snashall, widow.
