Andrew SNATCHELL (c1560-1618)

and Margery HARBIND (?-?)

 

Andrew Snatchell and Margery Harbind married on 23 May 1585 in Rotherfield, Sussex.

Andrew Snatchell was of Crawley, Sussex.  He left a will dated 10 March 1618 and proved on 22 May 1619.  Andrew was buried on 9 October 1618 in Crawley.  (I have not yet read his will.)

Margery Harbind was the residual legatee and executrix to her husband's will.

 

Andrew Snatchell and Margery Harbind had 7 known children:

  1. Robert Snashall was left a legacy of 10 by his father.  He was the churchwarden of Crawley in 1624 and 1631.

    As Robert Snayshewell he married Amy Gastone on 12 August 1621 in Crawley.

    The Crawley burial register notes that [blank] Snashall was buried on 18 January 1672.

    Robert and Amy had the following children:

    1. Robert Snashall was baptised on 3 November 1622 in Crawley.

    2. Mary Snashall was baptised on 19 June 1630 in Crawley.  As Mary Snashall she may have married Stephen Rider on 11 May 1652 in Horsham.

    3. Thomas Snashall was baptised on 24 February 1632/3 in Crawley.  He may have been the tenant of Slaugham Manor in 1668.

      On 11 August 1656, Thomas Snashall was a witness to the conveyance of property in Slaugham.  Thomas Snashall, labourer was buried on 25 July 1700 in Slaugham.

      Thomas may have had the following children:

      1. Mary Snashall was born on 8 May 1657 in Slaugham.

      2. John Snashall was baptised on 3 March 1663 in Slaugham.  Did he marry Ann Garston in Slaugham in 1688?

      3. Mary Snashall was baptised in March 1666 in Slaugham.  She was buried on 6 May 1669 in Slaugham, as the daughter of Thomas Snashall.

    4. John Snashall was baptised on 21 February 1635/6 in Crawley.  The baptism register noted that his mother's name was Amye.

    5. Aimy Snasher may have been part of this family.  She was buried on 22 April 1642 in Nuthurst, Sussex as the daughter of Robert Snasher.

  2. Richard Snashall was of Slaugham.  He married Jane before or about 1613.  (They have their own page.)

  3. Henry Snashall was left a legacy of 4 by his father.  He was buried on 25 February 1638 in Slaugham or on 8 May 1640 in Shipley.

    As Henry Snachall he married Joanna Gillam in September 1626 in Shipley.

    Joan wife of Henry Snashall was buried on 23 February 1628/9 in Slaugham.

    Henry and Joan had the following children:

    1. Henricus Snatchell was baptised on 5 August 1627 as the son of Henrici Snatchell.  He was buried on 5 September 1627 in Shipley.

    2. Jone Snashall was baptised on 15 February 1628/9 in Slaugham.

    Henry may have married again, possibly to Ann.

    Ann Snashfould, widow was buried on 27 April 1690 in Shipley.

    Henry and Ann may have had the following children:

    1. Elizabeth Snashall may have been part of this family.

      Before her marriage Elizabeth had a son:

      1. Richard Snashall was born on 6 November 1655 in Shipley.  The baptism register noted that he was the baseborn son of John Daniell and Elezebeth Snashall.

      Elizabeth married John Daniell on 26 February 1655/6 in Horsham.  John and Elizabeth were both of Shipley at the time of their marriage. 

    2. Edward Snashall was baptised on 26 February 1637/8 in Slaugham.  He may have been buried on 26 February 1637 or 15 January 1641 in Slaugham.

    3. John Snasholm may have been part of this family.  He was buried on 27 October 1667 in Shipley.

  4. Sander Snashall was left a legacy of 4 by his father.  Might his name have been Alexander?

  5. Anne Snashall was left a legacy of 6 by her father.

    As Ann Snashall she married John Peter on 9 May 1619 in Ifield, Sussex.

  6. Timothy Snashall was left a legacy of 1.10s by her father.

    As Timothea Snayshewell she married Anthony Hardinge on 28 September 1615 in Crawley.

    Anthony and Timothy had the following child:

    1. Robert Harding was baptised on 2 November 1615 in Crawley.  He was left a legacy of 5 shillings by his maternal grandfather.

  7. Joane Snashall was under 18 in 1618 and she was left a legacy of 5 by the terms of her father's will.

    As Joan Snatchall she may have married Henry Juppe in May 1625 in Shipley, Sussex.
