Robert SMITH
(c1680-?)
and Mary MARKWICK (1675-?)

Robert Smith
and Mary Markwicke were my 8x Great Grandparents. (Click
here
to see their place in my pedigree chart.) They married
by licence on 23 January 1705/6 at St. Thomas Cliffe in Lewes, Sussex.
Their marriage licence was issued in the South Malling Peculiar also on 23
January 1705/6. It recorded that Robert was a bachelor and yeoman of
Wadhurst, Sussex, whilst Mary was a spinster of Wadhurst.
Robert Smith's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
Might he have been the son of John Smith and Elizabeth Wallis
who married on 29 April 1678 in Wadhurst?
Mary Marquick
may have been baptised on 28 November 1675 in Ticehurst, Sussex and have
been the daughter of
John
Marquick and
Judith
Fissenden.
Robert Smith and Mary
Markwick had 1 known child:
-
Robert
Smith, my 7x Great Grandfather,
was baptised on 6 March 1709/10 in
Wadhurst. He married
Elizabeth Swift
in 1734. (They have their own page.)
However, there were
also the following possible baptism:
-
Robert Smith
was baptised on 8 February 1707 in Wadhurst, the son of John Smith
and Ann Lambkin.

MARKWICK
